Directed by Nana Obiri Yeboah and shot in London, ‘Nana Means King’ set to be released early next year is an African movie which features award winning Ghanaian actor-Prince David Osei, and tells a challenging story of a young Ghanaian who lost everything—including hope in UK.

Excellently written by Jeff Wood and Lucy Delaat, ‘Nana Means King’ pushes extreme destitution against lost hope in a web where the past serves as an inescapable prison, unless the true key to the prison door is found.

But would Kwame who has lost everything he lived for and believed in, even have the WILL to escape from his past?

Nana Means King’ which is currently in its post-production stage has a lot to teach, and a lot to impact—making it a must watch movie of 2014.

Christmas: Paganism Or Christian(ism)? Deeper Life Church In Ghana Has Admonished Members Not To Celebrate Christmas!

Christmas
Christmas

The issue of Christmas being a celebration for pagans or Christians is nothing new. One argument against Christmas is that the traditions surrounding the holiday have origins in paganism.

This is something not to tell a Christian because it is heresy to mention paganism. The General overseer of the Deeper Life Church has admonished all Christians to avoid celebration because it is idolatrous and unscriptural. According to him:

We don’t celebrate Christmas. It actually came from idolatrous background. That is why you don’t hear us sing what they call Christmas carol. Never! We always say it is the December retreat. We are only gathering together because it is the holiday period and love the Lord more, and rededicate ourselves more.

“When you find anybody coming in, or any leader, trying to introduce the idolatry of mystery Babylon, that they call Christmas and you want to bring all the Christmas carol saying that is the day that Jesus was born, and you don’t find that in the Acts of the Apostles or in the early church, then you don’t find that in the church either.  If you don’t know that before, now you know.”

He warned that any of the church’s leaders that tried to introduce the “idolatry of Christmas” into any section of the church would be sanctioned, while also encouraging other believers in Christ to jettison the celebration as part of their sacrifice to perfection.

Kumuyi said the duty of the church was to make people more like Jesus Christ and not join in worldly celebrations.

“We are not trying to make the church turn like the world. We want it to be like Jesus Christ, and more like the Apostles. If you don’t have that mind with us, then you have permission to go to other places,”

Bells, candles, holly, and yuletide decorations are mentioned in the history of pagan worship and we use the same to decorate our trees. Christians who choose to ignore Christmas point to the fact that the Bible doesn’t give us the date of Christ’s birth, which is certainly true. December 25 may not be even close to the time Jesus was born. Those Christians who do celebrate Christmas often see the occasion as an opportunity to proclaim Christ as “the reason for the season” among the nations.

Looking At The Total ‘Character Worksheet’, Do Ghanaian Dancehall Artistes Deserve Corporate Brand Ambassador Deals?

Shatta Wale

Some Ghanaian celebrities, spanning the major sects of our creative art industry – movies, music, broadcasting, fashion and modeling, have one way or the other been offered corporate brand ambassadorial deals before…

Though corporate bodies contract showbiz celebrities to brand or market their products and services, they also take into consideration the total ‘character worksheet’ of the person (celebrity). After all, nobody throws good money over bad money.

Dancehall music, which is believed to have originated from Jamaica, has most of its artistes engage in all sorts of social vices – dissing of other dancehall music compeers through their songs/videos, smoke ‘hard’ drugs, some are alcohol addicts, fights mostly come along with their concerts, don’t keep their dreadlocks neat, dress shabbily, amongst others.

Most popular (and even unpopular ones) Ghanaian dancehall artistes also engage in same or similar above acts. Today it is Bandana dissing Samini; tomorrow it is Bandana against Stonbwoy; the next day it is Iwan spitting at Samini; the day after, it is Shatta Rako abasing Samini.

They spread diss songs on various social media platforms, Tweets crude messages containing swear words, affront and make unfounded allegations against each other on both radio and television interviews; making the dancehall music arena, a ‘stinking’ place in our music industry.

How Many Guys Have You Slept With- Does The Numbers Really Count?

black woman

Almost always, whenever you start talking to a new guy, you are bound to be asked this dreaded question-‘ How many guys have you been with’? Now ladies, even though this might appear as a harmless question, any guy that asks that is looking to form certain kind of impression about you depending on your answer.

Now if you are not yet sexually active, then you are in the clear and you have nothing to worry about. This is because what the guy actually wants  is the number of guys you have been involved with sexually.

Now here comes the tricky part. Let me first start by making some informed assumptions. Let’s say like the average woman, you started having sex at the age of 18 with the first guy you fell in love with. After dating for 2 years you realised he has changed from the sweet loving guy you knew to a cold hearted person. At 20, you are a single lady looking to mingle. You have a couple of flings with some guys you were attracted to. None of it led to a committed relationship but you had sex with at least one of these guys.

Then you meet your prince charming and start another relationship with him. Six (6) months later, you realise your prince charming is not so charming after all. He is a liar and a cheat. Now at 21 you are ready for something serious. You decide to stay off guys for some time. After a one year hiatus, you meet the perfect gentleman for you. Your start off a relationship with him and it lasts for 4 years.  Unfortunately it didn’t lead to marriage as you hoped and you are now 26 years looking for a serious relationship.
