For some reason, it seems when it comes to us women, there is only one top place for a woman. But several men can be on top without any unnecessary tension—in fact, they can even support each other while on top.

Out of nothing, tension and animosity was created and it filled the top gap between Leila Djansi and Shirley Frimpong Manso—I will blame the Ghanaian media as the force behind this big bang.

For some years now, things have been reported as if Leila Djansi and Shirley Frimpong Manso were natural enemies. It has been made out to be like there is no way they can exist in the same industry as outstanding Directors, unless one slashes the throat of another.

Even where there is nothing, the media conjures tension and creates aversion between the two fans of these Directors. Why can’t you like the works of Leila Djansi and equally admire that of Shirley Frimpong Manso? I am yet to see any African Movie fanatic who loves the excellent works of the two great women.

Recently, the two women were on the same stage at the same time at the 2013 Ghana Movie Awards, which attracted reports with words like; Reconciliation, Peace Making, Melodrama, Scripted Drama and others—the various media outlets were once again insinuating that the ‘none existing’ lasting hatred between the two women was about to be ended.

According to NewsOne, Leila Djansi has openly said she has no issue with Shirley Frimpong Manso, putting the blame on those who rightly deserve it—the media. And that she does not even understand the numerous reports of reconciliation…

She said “We are not enemies. I don’t really understand why somebody will say that we are,”.
