It is undisputed that Lil Win (real name Kwadwo Nkansah) is the current top man and most sought after actor in Kumawood, a position Kofi Adu aka Agya Koo once held.
The laudable cheers and screams Lil Win recently attracted at the 2013 Ghana Movie Awards is an indication of how much he has won the hearts of many Ghana movie lovers, relegating Agya Koo to the background.
With Lil Win featuring in almost every movie coming out of Kumasi and more recently even in those being made in Accra, Agya Koo has been forced to answer the question; why does it seems like Lil Win is getting more jobs than him.
According to reports, Agya Koo who spoke on Takoradi based Skyy Power radio station said; the reason why producers go in for Lil Win instead of him is because he is very expensive to afford and not that Lil Win is any better than him.
“Let me tell you the truth today, the Producers say I charge so much and using someone like Lil Win can make you get extra casts. But same Producers brought Porpo (Osita Iheme) from Nigeria and paid him more than GHC40,000. My charges are not even GHC5,000” Agya Koo said.
Agya Koo even went as far as to say; “I am in the Guinness book of Record for acting more movies than anyone in the world, Judges, high profiled people like Kufuor and others watch my movies and you are asking if Lil Win is popular than me. I am wealthier than he is and he cannot compare himself to me in anyway. My Production House (Titi Mbofra) raised the standard of local movies in Ghana. We were the saviors of local movies when no attention was paid to local movies”.
With Agya Koo saying he charges not even up to GHC5,000 and yet producers claim he is expensive to afford, we guess Lil Win is charging somewhere around GHC3,000 per movie.
