Shockingly, the Lifetime Achievement Award category in Ghana Movie Awards has been suspended by the organizers.

Mr. Prince Tsegah, Chief Operating Officer of Ghana Movie Awards made this revelation on Accra based radio station – Channel R. “We have suspended the Lifetime Achievement Awards,” Mr. Tsegah said emphatically.

The host asked Mr. Tsegah several times for the reason why the organizers or academy did so but Mr. Tsegah, who held the airwaves dead for some seconds, refused to let out the reason. Mr. Tsegah was actually responding to the failure of Ghana Movie Award to give out a plaque they promised veteran Nigerian actor Olu Jacob.

At the 2011 Ghana Movie Awards night held at the Accra International Conference Center, veteran Nigeria actor Olu Jacob was honoured with the Lifetime Achievement Award. Two years on, organizers of GMA have not given Mr. Olu Jacob his plaque.

In Mr. Olu’s own words when he came to Ghana last year (2012) to assist in publicity for Shirley Frimpong Manson’s movie ‘Potomanto,’ which he starred in, he revealed on TV 3’s morning show – ‘New Day.’ “Two years now, the organizers have not served me with my plaque! I have not heard anything from them too! No one has called me! I need the plaque! I really need it!” said Olu Jacob.

Mr. Tsegah has however told the media that Mr. Olu Jacob’s plaque has been sent to him through Segune Arinze. In an interview with GMA Founder, Mr. Fred Nuamah, he confirmed it.

GhanaCelebrities.Com will follow up to ascertain whether Mr. Olu has received his plaque or not. Until then…MOTWUM!!
