EMPIRE 102.7fm

In spite of the saturation of radio stations in Ghana, Bola Ray (real name Kwabena Anokye Adisi) the brain behind Empire 102.7fm stationed in Takoradi is more than confident that the new station will soon rule the airwaves…

After more than a decade in Radio, Bola Ray has all it takes to make those important decisions which will take radio listeners on a daily refreshing journey—and he has decided to do so with the birth of Empire 102.7fm.

In a strategic move to ensure that those who tune into Empire receive the best and have a wonderful listening experience, Bola Ray has sealed a deal with Joy 99.7 fm to transmit to Empire’s listeners, some of the award winning  programmes on the Super station.

Not only has Empire 102.7 hit the airwaves with new and refreshing programmes, putting itself on a different pedestal from the on-going repetition and programme’s similarities, it has also joined hands with Multimedia group—to bring the best to its listeners.

According to the Business Manager at Empire FM-Frank Odoom, the Empire-Joy partnership will “give Empire the opportunity to enrich its air content and also give Joy FM an opportunity to extend their brand,”

In its bid to set the bar high, Empire FM will not be cluttered with the turbulence of Ghana’s day-to-day politics as it appears to be the trend in the industry—Empire will take centre stage with thought-provoking Entertainment and lifestyle programmes.

Is The Black Race The Most Religious Of All Races?

Jesus

I think the right answer to the question asked by the writer of the below article is YES. Let me add that, when it comes to Ghanaians, we are over religious and extensively superstitious…

Probably other black people are the same too when it comes to the way we do not stop to think when it comes to religion. And when superstition is piled unto the way we treat things of the spirit, then we should know we are heading for that big crash!

line

To be described as more catholic than the Pope is not a compliment. It is said that the white man brought Christianity to Africa and they considered it their mission to civilize the black race by converting the heathen to Christianity. Now the “heathen” seem to be more Christian than the one who converted him to the religion.

Are black folks more religious than the other races and why? If you are talking about Christianity, there is evidence to suggest that yes, indeed blacks tend to be more religious. To some lesser extent, the same situation applies to other religions like Islam and the other far Eastern religions and their rapid spread into Africa.

As I sat at home this past weekend and listened to or watched the number of church services on our airwaves and on TV, and the overflow of the congregation, a Japanese friend of mine who was visiting couldn’t help but to ask “why are Africans so religious?”. I think she wanted to be polite as usual because the Japanese are noted for their politeness else she would have put it this way “You (Africans) are the most religious yet the poorest, why?”

I will return to her question later but she was right in asking. In Ghana today, you can hardly walk five blocks without seeing a church. At broad day light on a week day you hear people singing and dancing, beating drums and praying, and you wonder if it is a public holiday but it’s not.

Jackie Appiah’s Natural Hair

Star-actress Jackie Appiah wants you to know that, even without those expensive weaves, she is naturally beautiful—and probably wants you to know that unlike Yvonne Nelson , Naomi Campbell and the other celebrities who are going BALD, her hairline is still intact…

With many celebrities going BALD, courtesy of the weaves they wear which pulls the natural hair over time, causing it to rip out by the root—Jackie has probably decided to give her natural hair a room to breath. As we once stated in our article-When Weaves Cause Baldness…My Recent Salon Visit!;

When Quantity Is Chosen Over Quality, Shoddy Works Are Produced | The Industry As We See It

Shatta Wale
Shatta Wale

Without any definition of terms, I assume the words quantity and quality are understood by almost everybody who is reading this article.

In our various works, we all strive to achieve what is best but it becomes absurd when a person decides to choose quantity over quality (excellence).

Let’s delve into the movie industry a bit (focusing largely on Kumawood). Countless new movies are released each and every day. Enter a movie shop you see around and ask for the latest Ghanaian movie in town. Over hundred movie CDs would be handed to you.

There wouldn’t be any problem if these movies are of high quality and good storylines. I sometimes wonder the kind of cameras they use to shoot those movies. I guess my phone’s camera can do a better job than the cameras they use. The picture and sound qualities of most of the so – called Ghanaian movies are nothing to write home about.

Yet, when you complain, all that the industry players can afford to tell you is to support your own and stop backbiting. How do I support something in which those involved are doing nothing to advance it? What is backbiting about putting the bare facts on the ground?

As human as I am, I work hard to earn money. It would therefore be sensible to spend that hard – earned money on things that are of good qualities. So when I patronise foreign movies, it is not that I want their industry to grow and leave ours hanging. It’s a simple logic; I want value my money.

READERS’ MAIL: Being Gay Is Never A Natural Feeling But An Evil Desire We Must Detest

Gay Couple kissing

Dear Chris,

Hope you are doing well by the grace of God. It is my wish that you will give my letter an equal attention and publication just as you have given to the Ernest who claim to be born a gay.

First of all let’s look at it this way, there has never been any fact that scientist have proof that homosexual is an in-born thing. Much of our media sources today assume the question of homosexual being an in-born is a solved scientific problem with all the evidence pointing toward a biological (probably genetic) basis for a homosexual orientation.

Contrary to this perception, the question has been poorly studied (or studied poorly), although there maybe some evidence on sides of question as Ernest is claiming to be one (a proof). In addition, many of the initial studies, which were highly touted by the media or advocates  as “proof” for a biological basis for homosexuality, have been contradicted by later, more thorough studies.

In his submission he points some locations where he knew people who are in the same shoe as him but I want to lament that it is a fallacy, as says best in a proverb that “only a lying man who claims his only witness lives abroad”.

If what Ernest is assuming or saying about himself is true then he does not need another person to proof he is right because his is at best his witness. All he need is his doctor’s report and the credibility of the doctor and for the doctor to accept having done the test on him.  Let us assume for the sake of argument that some people are born homosexual.
