Our music and movie industry have come a long way to make strides, but the question worth asking or cogitating upon is; which of them sell Ghana to the international market?

The Ghana music industry has seen a long phase of industrial evolution. Counting from the 80’s to the 90’s, most of our songs were stored on audio cassettes and marketed on cassette boards by vendors who moved from one place to the other.

Currently, music is stored on compact discs, internet, phones, flash drives and other forms of digital devices. Comparing music videos then to now, one would note that from pictures, type of camera and shots, sound, costume and props; music videos of now are better than then.

More platforms known as reality shows are now available on various television stations for talented would-become musicians to take advantage of. More radio stations are now in place to play songs for the public to enjoy.

Musicians now drive in luxurious cars, own houses, have fat bank balances, wear expensive dresses, get corporate brand ambassadorial deals, and even give donations to less privileged or deprived orphanages or communities as social responsibilities.
The movie industry on the other hand has also seen a rigorous evolution. From the use of VHS cassettes, we now have VCDs and DVDs, flash drives and other digital devices to store, watch and to sell movies.

Even if you do not know much about the Moonies Church, I am sure you’ve heard about their mass weddings which used to be officiated by its late leader-Sun Myung Moon.

Since Sun Myung Moon died in September 2012, the church have had only one mass wedding but it is this second one involving 2500 couples in South Korea that has made the headlines—once again.

After confirming under oath that they are virgins, the 2500 couples sprinkle holy water, recite vows pledging themselves to be faithful to each other and exchange rings and prayers.

It doesn’t end there,  the newlyweds must then go for at least 40 days without having sex. This period of abstinence is supposed to be an echo of Jesus’s 40 days and nights wandering the desert, where the Bible says he remained in the wilderness as the devil appeared to him and offered him a string of temptations, all of which he ignored.
