Happy 57th Independence Day to You All + My Thoughts!

Happy Independence Day

Ghana is 57 years today and as Ghanaians, we are proud of the many years we’ve come and the liberation hurdles we’ve overcome.

As much as we pride ourselves as the first country south of the Sahara to have gained independence and even fought alongside other nations for their liberations—we should also take the bullet in our chests and say Ghana today is not what we want…

Economically, we are in a worse position and standard of living f keeps falling with time, instead of expected increase.

We seem to have a lot to say with our mouths, but little or nothing to show in our pockets and for our constant struggles.

From toothpick to commodities like rice, we import literally everything that we depend on for survival as people.

Accountability is at its lowest level since independence with our own leaders riding the trains of gold while we run barefooted after these trains.

The ordinary Ghanaian seems to have nothing to show for the fight our founding fathers/mothers aggressively put up against colonialism.

In today’s Ghana, it isn’t anymore shocking to hear people say; Ghana was better under colonialism than under self-governance.

All the same, Happy Independence Day!

  2. I share your thoughts my brother. I can confidently say that Ghana has the most natural resources in the world per our land mass and population but we’ve failed to do anything with them. Our leaders are only interested in how to win the next election so they can continue to enrich themselves. The only people who are enjoying the fruits of our indepence are the politicians. The ordinary Ghanaian is still under the bondage of poverty in a country full of natural resources. Today the dream of most university students is to get into politics because that is the surest way to good life. Until our leaders stop talking and start thinking, things will continue to move from bad to worse. Osagyefo will be very disappointed in his grave, because he thought the blackman was capable of managing his own country.

  3. Its a shame to realize our dear country Ghana couldn’t gift us a “dumso free” independence day. How do you expect your country to progress when you don’t even think about the welfare of your citizens. Power outage on a whole independence day? God bless Ghana!

I hope Ghana lives to reach greater heights in our next anniversary.
