So Near…But the Heart So Far | Something That Looks Like An Apple Can Never Be An Apple

LoveWhen a lady all of a sudden decides she’s not going through with her engagement (traditional) again because her heart is not with the husband-to-be but with someone else, it raises eyebrows – and it makes the case even worse if she’s been feeling that way since the ‘relationship’ started. It’s a bit pardonable if somewhere along the line, feelings changed but if from the beginning of time … that’s mean.

This makes the saying; ‘the heart is like a baggage everyone carries but it’s only the carrier that knows its content’ so true. Imagine you’re with someone out and about and they’re enjoying themselves but you’re not because you don’t want to be there but you have to mask that as much as possible or you’re lying next to someone, but don’t want to be there and all the while they think you feel the same way. Your heart is with someone else and longing to want to be with them but for whatever reason you can’t have/be with them….yet.

Sometimes it’s an ex or the new guy/girl you met. Some people break up, go into new relationships but their heart is with ex. Some people claim they only realise they love someone when they break up with them so they get back together and things work out perfectly fine. It works out because both of them wanted the same thing but in a case whereby you’re with someone but your heart wants something else or you’re with someone who’s heart is far away from you makes the ‘relationship’ a deceitful one.

67th Cannes Film Festival: Party Girl, a First Film to Open Un Certain Regard

PARTYGIRL

PARTY GIRL, a first film written and directed by Marie Amachoukeli, Claire Burger and Samuel Theis, has been chosen to open the Official Selection of Un Certain Regard.  It follows The Bling Ring by the American, Sofia Coppola, which was presented in 2013.

Produced by Elzévir Films and distributed by Pyramide Films, Party Girl shows the life of Angélique, a 60 year-old night club hostess who still loves men and enjoys partying, but now as the senior member on staff, feels she has reached the end of the line. On an impulse, she agrees to marry her regular client, Michel. The film is a portrait of a free woman who has chosen to live on the margins of conventional society, and delves deep into a France that is often underrepresented. With total realism, the lead role is played by the real-life Angélique.

The three co-directors met at Fémis, where they studied screenwriting and editing and began their collaboration. They produced short films that amassed awards at several festivals: Forbach (Cinéfondation Second Prize, Festival de Cannes 2008 and Grand Prix at the 2009 Clermont-Ferrand International Short Film Festival),  C’est gratuit pour les filles (Semaine de la Critique 2009 – César Award for Best Short Film, 2010), and Demolition Party (2013).

With its mission to discover new talents, Un Certain Regard will provide excellent exposure for a collective first work that is innovative both in its form and its subject. The choice reflects the wish of Pablo Trapero, President of the Jury for Un Certain Regard 2014, “to present a passionate selection of established masters, young talents and new forms of cinema.”

Actress Baby Blanche Says She Does Not Normally Wear PANTIES…Seriously?

Baby Blanche
Baby Blanche

I am not sure if you still remember actress-Baby Blanche since she really does not have any GREAT movie to her name. However, she is the actress who once claimed movie Director-Socrate Sarfo shaved her down there hair on a movie set…

Baby Blanche who is looking to make a return back to movies is talking—and she is pouring out some tackiness, saying, she does not normally wear panties, blah blah!

The actress who spoke to Graphic Showbiz said;

“I love all kinds of lingerie that make a woman feminine because I’m a woman, but I hardly wear panties. This is not because I don’t want to wear them but because the clothes I love to wear wouldn’t permit me to,”

Explaining why she does so, she said;

“I try as much as possible to act as a lady and not to let my  panty lines show just because I like to wear dresses that hug my figure. So if I wear clothes and the outline of my panty is glaring like that I don’t like it. Being a lady is not only about wearing make-up and Brazilian hair but also comprises the propriety of whatever you’re wearing”.

DO YOU KNOW THAT: The Concept of Red Carpet is from Africa and NOT the West – Believe it or Not

red-carpet

In case you never knew, the idea or concept of red carpet, originates from Africa and not the West – as many have been made to believe for years now.

The orientation of red carpet is used to describe situations where long and large red carpet is unfurled to honor and welcome guests who grace events, usually VIP’s or celebrities. No one seems absolutely sure of the origin of the whole red carpet orientation but the concept of red carpet was first recorded in 485 BC in the ancient Greek story of “Agamemnon” when he returned from Troy.

He was greeted by his vengeful wife, Clytemnestra, with a red color path. However, Agamemnon refused because he felt only the gods were worthy to be greeted with luxuries. From African Mythology – the body of stories associated with a culture, institution or person studies, the concept of red carpet actually started from Africa and not the West.

The act of rolling out clothes unto the floor for revered personalities to walk on was a preserve of people in Africa. During ancient days of Africa, women mostly lay their expensive clothes, usually white clothes, down for Kings, Queens and dignitaries to walk on at social events as a sign of venerable welcome.

Even during marriage ceremonies or when someone being honoured, women unfurled their white clothes unto the floor for the bride and groom or the honouree respectively, to walk on. It was old ladies who usually did so amidst cheers and high spirited applause from all the folks.

Lack of Accountability is the Fountainhead of all Our Problems in Africa

Africa Problems

Do not fall for the countless economic indexes and the many ways they say democracy is improving in Africa, the fact of the matter is, the economy is improving for only those in power and democracy is being showcased not practiced.

For the ordinary African living in Africa, none of the improvements has a direct or indirect effect on his/her life— we are bearing witness to the fact that the struggle continues…

It is true that there are deep state issues and external actors which are pulling Africa backwards but that is just a highly infinitesimal part of the problem, the larger part of the problem is the lack of accountability among our leaders and those we offer power to oversee things.

Despite the many ways public officials are held accountability in places like the UK, tougher measures of accountability are currently being discussed to help bring the expenses of UK parliamentarians under scrutiny to keep them in check.

One of the many proposed measures was discussed this morning on BBC which is, whatever parliamentarians claim as expenses should be channelled through a particular credit card which should be accessible online to everybody—loosely explained as, you can logon to see what your constituency parliamentarian buys under the expenses claim scheme and that way, we all will know what is buying what and what time…

The above is the high standard of accountability the UK and several western countries which are well developed with better economies are looking to put in place so to bring the actions of those in power under public scrutiny.

In Ghana for instance, a parliamentarian who earns less than £4000 a month (which I still think it’s excessive) is able to buy his two girlfriends over £30,000 cars and give them a monthly allowance of not less than £1000 each while paying foreign schools fees for his sons and other concubines…
