02:51 This is the much talked about award of the night and it went to Shatta Wale as we predicted. Althoghh Shatta Wale was not present at the conference center, his SM4Life crew picked the award for him. By this time, he is tearing into pieces all the lyrics he wrote for Charter House…LOL

02:46 This year’s album of the Year award goes to Sarkodie as he wins it with his Sarkology album. The award was presented by Hon Dzifa Abla Gomashie. Sarkodie was joined on stage by his manager Sammy Forson, producer Dr Duncan, and the Rap University students. As Sammy Forson puts it, 13 solid engineers worked on the whole album.

02:33 One of Nigeria’s fast rising artiste, Davido, mounts the stage.

02:30 Shatta Wale does it again by winning the Most Popular Song of the Year with ‘Dancehall King’. Award was present by Uche Ofodile,Chief Marketing Officer of Vodafone Ghana.

02:25 New Artiste of the Year goes to Joey B. He wins for himself a brand new i10 car provided by Musiga and Midland Savings and loans…Tonga dey rhythm with….

02:25 In attempt to steal Ellen Degeneres’ oscar selfie, KOD forced a VGMA 2014 self and this is how it came out. In fact, we picked it up as part of our social media commentaries so you can see what someone had to say about the selfie. Was it necessary?

02:19 Check out what people on Social Media are saying…Some one just said “Eazzy’s make up was sponsored by deluxy paint. Deluxy paint every paint b bleach” and another added that “all paint be paint”

Social Media3 Social Media4

02:09 Kwabena Kwabena mounts the stage to thrill patrons with his great collection of Highlife tunes…

02:08 R2Bees wins Best Group of the Year award. Award was picked up by their representatives. It was presented by John Dumelo and Joselyn Dumas

02:06 Funny indeed, John Dumelo jokingly kneels down to propose to Joselyn Dumas. This was an act to make fun at Elikem and Pokello…They probably don’t believe it was real too. Elikem will do anything for attention.

02:00 Greatest hit of the night, Bukom Banku and Ayittey collaborate to deliver the Best Rapper Award. The award, which was announced by Ayittey Powers, went once again to Sarkodie. As usual, Bukom wouldn’t present the award without releasing some of his funny English lines. The two, Bukom and Ayittey shared some funny lines before leaving the stage…And Ayitey Powers said ‘ability without mannerism is barbarism’. What ever that means, only God knows!

The two, Bukom and Ayittey shared some funny lines before leaving the stage…

01:58 Bukom Banku, a.k.a Banku Eba, joins Samini on stage…

01:50 Samini begins his perfomance with ‘Time Bomb’. Funny enough, someone else is doing most of his ragga for him. Wondering why all the Dancehall artistes are performing with the live band, which seems not to go down well. He follows ‘Time Bomb’ with ‘Linda’. This same ‘Linda’ track was banned some years back by the same award organisers. Why is he allowed to perform it now?

And someone just said on social media that; ‘Obour swallowed Jonah and the Whale’.

01:43: GTV has cut the live transmission for some of you guys…Stay with us as we try to find alternative streaming for those who have lost theirs…In the middle of the show, they’ve gone off. Ghana for you!

01:43 It looks like all the artistes with ‘S’ beginning their names are rocking the stage. Dressed in soldier’s camouflage, Ashaiman based Dancehall artiste, Stonebuoy has take over the stage as he performs his hit songs (Onumade, Not Again, and Pull Up).

01:42 Check out what people on Social Media are saying…

Social Media2

01:36 Performing on stage now is one of Ghana’s finest Dancehall artistes, Jupiter. He has decided to perform his Dancehall tracks with the Live Band. Let’s wait and see how it goes. Already, it’s like a church service where the pastor is leading some praises.

01:34 Sonnie Badu grabs his second award for the night. This time round, he wins for himself the Best Male Vocal Artiste. After he picked it up, Eazzy kept saying ‘Can I find KOD’. What was she trying to say?

01:30 Efya is killing it. Once again, she has won for herself the Best Female Vocal Artise for the fourth consecutive times. The presentation was done by Dentaa and former Black Star captain-Stephen Appiah.

01:17 Ghanaian rapper-Sarkodie took to the stage in all white and kick-started his performance with the song ‘Illuminate’. After doing several songs, Joey B joined him on stage to perform his hit track – Tonga. Castro De Destroyer also joined Sarkodie for another good performance of  ‘Adonai remix’.

01:07 Stanley Adjetey wins Best Music Video of the Year with Knii Lante’s “Baby Take Good Care of Me”

01:02 Kwabena Kwabena scoops the Best Collaboration of the Year award with ‘Adult Music’. The award was presented by BBA couple, Polikem (Pokello and Elikem). After unnecessary long talk on stage, Elikem proposed to Pokello—-which didn’t look any genuine but she said Yes!

00:57 Davido wins African Artiste of the Year—-and the presentation was done by Chris Attoh and Sika Osei. Davido came on stage with a large entourage. Davido really deserves this. He gave shout out to R2Bees, Shatta Wale, and 4×4 after receiving the award

00: 56 Iyanya just left the stage after performing several of his hit songs including ‘Your Waist’ which could not properly move the crowd. It looks patrons are getting tired of how long the night is turning up to be…

00:37 The CEO of Sark Collections, Sarkodie wins Hiplife/HipHop Artiste of the Year. This is the second award he has won for the night—so far. KKD presented the award and the award was was received by Dr Duncan – CEO of Duncwills Entertainment

00:30 Check out what people on Social Media are saying…

Social Media1

00:21 Dasebre Dwamena climbs the stage right after Kwadee had left. The highlife legend is really thrilling patrons with good old tunes. However, I’m shocked that a highlife musician like Dasebre is miming when there is actually a live band present. And who are those lousy dancers standing behind Dasebre? Come on guys we don’t need these things in 2014.

Also, social media is buzzing with complaints that the event has turned into a musical concert instead of an award show…

00:13 It looks like this is going to be a long night. It is passed 12 midnight (Ghana time) and so far we have just 6 awards and countless musical performances. This is turning into a musical concert. In fact, a church service. Kwadee has just jumped on stage to end the Gospel songs—taking us back to some of the songs that defined his music career.  Shaming all critics, he’s performing with full energy. He is the second artiste to defy the order of the night by not performing with the live band.

Patrick Forson wrote on twitter; “Vodafone, please its already Sunday.. We don’t want any church service at #VGMA.. please”

00:05 Cindy Thompson live on stage performing some of her old tracks. Bringing back good music! We really miss her…She got everyone dancing and Actress Nana Ama McBrown was spotted, dancing her stress off.

11:57 Actress Lydia Forson and D-Black was on stage to present Hiplife Song of the Year. Guru managed to beat Joey B, Gasmilla, and others to win Hiplife Song of the Year with ‘Boys Abr3

11:55 Sarkodie’s Lie just won the Hip Hop Song of the Year

11:50 Million Pound Girl by Fuse ODG won Afro Pop Song of the Year—he was not around to receive his plaque.

11:40 There was a selfie moment and Joselyn Dumas took away all the shine…Those watching from home could see her protruding backside in that amazing Duaba Serwaa dress. This moment was followed by a performance from OJ, who had earlier on won the award for-Gospel Artiste of the Year.

Though O J was dressed as if he was going for a funeral, his performance was powerful and inspirational. On social media, someone wrote: I just saw 6 or 7 people take the world’s biggest selfie, I can die in peace now. ‪#‎VGMA

11:33 In fact Sonnie Badu is a great stage rocker. You hardly see Ghanaian Gospel artistes moving a crowd like he did tonight. And he is full of SWAG. However, his dancers who were throwing about white handkerchief were not doing any spectacular. He performed his song-Wonder God and several others…

Sonnie Badu also talked about Ghana’s lost this morning-Kofi Ansah, saying, you don’t know what tomorrow brings. He dedicated a song to Kofi Ansah and advised that, there is no need to feel big because you don’t actually know tomorrow.

11:20: Reggae/Dancehall Song of the Year went to Dancehall King-Shatta Wale and as expected the whole auditorium went loud. SMF for life…

11:17 Boxer Joshua Clottey and sinher-Irene Logan were on stage to pick Highlife Song of the Year and the award went to Odo Pa-Castro Feat. Baby Jet & K. Kinaata. And as usual, Castro was wearing his dark shades—dedicated his award to his mother.

22:12 O J’s Ma Ye Se Mo Pen has been announced as Gospel Song of the Year

22:55 Guru took the centre stage to thrill patrons with several of his hit songs. From Alkayida to the oldies, Guru was full of energy.

22:50 MzVee who had the opportunity to perform as an unsung artiste was not bad at all…Just that she was moving about a lot on stage. Maybe with time, she will take control of her stage craft…

22:47 Eazzy and KOD are warming up for the night. Eazzy is looking stunning and we love her dress, though she seems a little uncomfortable in it. I don’t think she needed that on stage, maybe for the red carpet…From twitter, some folks are saying Eazzy looks like a Curry Powder!

22:40 The ‘Azonto Ghost’ hitmaker, Bisa Kdei, is the 2nd act for the night. He performs ‘Me Tamfo’ and ‘Baba’. He was very well-dressed but his voice couldn’t do the magic for him. All the same, for a second act of the night, we can’t complain as there are more to come…

22:36 For the second time Eazzy and KOD are hosting the Show. They did pretty well last year but we did not expect them to be back this soon. Probably, Charter House struggled to find two fitting candidates to host the show—and they decided to go back for KOD.

Also, last year’s VGMA saw Efya as the 1st performer of the night. Castro da Destroyer took that position tonight as the opening act. The commencement of the whole act was a great one. However, the whole live band didn’t go down well with him. And we didn’t like that hair cut he was carrying…

19:38 Earlier on, we reported that Shatta Wale will not be performing at the VGMA tonight. According the music star, Charter House-organizers of the VGMA could not meet his performance fee of 70,000GHS which they would have gladly paid even more for a foreign artiste.

GhanaCelebrities.Com just spoke to another popular Ghanaian musician who wants to remain anonymous for now concerning the issue—and he said, Shatta Wale is right because Charter House takes too much ‘piss’ out of Ghanaian artistes. “It is Shatta Wale’s time and he has every right to make demands”, said the artiste.

  4. My thought so far about the VGMA one The band is poor … They need to stop them and perform without them

-Bola Ray’s head looked like the retirement plan contract for barbers worldwide.

    – Eazzy decided to go against God’s plan by using black lipstick tonight against her bleached skin. Looking like sunset here & sunrise there.

    – KOD looked like he’s out to direct traffic at the car park after the show.

    – Castro was wearing those dark shades like he’s the third member of the Black Messiahs.

    – Obour’s outfit is what the devil will give you to wear when he takes your luggage and welcomes you to hell.

    – Yvonne Okoro. Always beautiful.

    – One day, we’ll find out the sort of voodoo D-Black is using. He keeps churning out hits with no visible talents.

    – Trigmatic is out there with a bald look because he wants people to see his thoughts.

    – Mz Vee can use the hair on her head to scratch MTN recharge cards.

    – Jocelyn will be turning heads tonight.

    – why wasnKwabena Kwabena dressed like he’s going to Presec vacation classes?

-E.L makes some really amazing music but he’s got to hire a personal stylist to pick public clothes for him.

    – The choreographers are poor and weak.

    – Im sure we all saw the difference between sark and Joey b’s control over the stage and music. He is simply the boss. And has proven to be a music I con by the way was shatta really serious about the ghs70.000 or has this dude been smoking too much weed
