BATTLE FOR SUPREMACY: Which Country Will Take Home the CHAMPION BELT at Tomorrow’s ‘Ghana Meets Naija’ Concert?

Ghana Meets Naija
Ghana Meets Naija

Undeniably, Ghana Meets Naija is the hottest musical concert on the Ghanaian event calendar. With three successful and power-packed previous editions, this year’s edition of Ghana Meets Naija is surely going to be exceptionally massive with oodles of fun.

In the world of football, Ghana has succeeded in beaten Nigeria in the FIFA World Ranking. What about the music industry? Nigeria has over the years been boasting of having great musical performers. The host nation, Ghana, on the other hand thinks otherwise. It’s therefore time for the two countries to come face to face once again for another round of a fair musical battle.

These two countries do not want to let go their supremacy and bragging rights. In view of this, top musicians from each of the two countries have been lined up for this year’s Ghana Meets Naija mega concert. The best have been selected from the rest to thrill their fans and make the night a memorable one in one’s lifetime. Will Ghana, the host nation, lose to Nigeria?

The question as to which country will stand tall ought to be answered. It can only be answered by analysing the performers representing each country. The headline acts for Ghana include Sarkodie, Guru, Lil Win, and Castro. (Don’t forget Shatta Wale will be hitting it hard too).

That of Nigeria comprises of Davido, Kcee, and Wizboy. Other supporting acts will be performing on the night. For now, they will remain as surprising acts—y0u need to be there to find out for yourself….

Let’s look at the headline acts from both countries to make a projection as to which country is likely to take home the champion belt.

Sarkodie

Sarkodie has grown to become one of Africa’s top musical performers. With 3 studio albums plus one collaborative album to his credit, Sarkodie has twice been adjudged as Artiste of the Year by organisers of Ghana Music Awards.

His brand keeps growing day after day. Music lovers love him for his versatility and how he delivers fluently on every song with his fast-paced rap style.

In 2012, Sarkodie won the Best International Act (Africa) at the BET Awards. Churning out hit songs each time, he has once again been recognised by BET, nominating him in the same category this year.

At tomorrow’s Ghana meets Naija, patrons will be expecting great and nerve- cracking performance from Sarkodie—and we are certain he will not disappoint.

Shatta Wale

Whoever tells you rebranding isn’t good doesn’t actually know what he/she is talking about. Charles Nii Armah Mensah Jnr., popularly known by his stage name-Shatta Wale is currently taking Dancehall music in Ghana to another level.

It seems he releases new songs at the end of each week—and these songs turn out to become hits. With lots of ghetto soldiers on his side, Shatta Wale doesn’t disappoint his followers when it comes to performance.

He is the reigning artiste of the year in Ghana. The demand to have him perform by event organisers is extremely far above the ground. Setting a high performance fee for himself, Shatta Wale and his Shatta Movement Family are representing live at Ghana meets Naija. With Shatta on stage as part of the Ghanaian squad, one would expect nothing more than an electrifying performance.

Guru

He made it big when Azonto was the order of the day. He is still doing it with the new craze, Akayida. Guru will be performing alongside Kwadwo Nkansah, popularly known as Lil Win.

This ought to bring to your mind the kind of amazing entertainment these two will bring on stage. Guru has several hit tracks to his name, which he will be performing most of them on the judgment night.

As creative and talented as he is, Guru, has several awards to his credit. When it comes to stage craft, he is on point—and this shows that the organisers of Ghana Meets Naija got it right to have him on the Ghanaian list.

Castro

Castro is an ‘old nigga’ with a room full of experience in the music world. His great and silky voice can actually repair a broken heart. His music is one of a kind. As part of the surprise package, organizers have kept mute on whether hus right hand man, Asamoah Gyan, will be joining him on stage to thrill fans.

Just last week, Castro disclosed to the media how prepared he was to make his fans enjoy every single bit of tomorrow’s event. According to him, he is never going to disappoint his fanatics. If such a statement is coming from the ‘Odo Pa’ hit maker, then you probably should know what that means.

Davido

‘Dami Duro’ was a hit in Nigeria, hit in Ghana, and a hit across Africa. It was recorded by Davido. As young as he is, Davido has been able to move beyond the Nigerian market. His songs are enjoyed by both the young and the old.

He was in Ghana not too long ago, where he received an award for his great musical work done. He will be on the stage in Ghana again for this year’s Ghana Meets Naija.

Proving to the world that he isn’t a one-hit maker after ‘Dami Duro’, Davido came out with ‘Gobe’, ‘Skelewu’, and ‘Aye’. He has since continued to remain in the glare of public interest. Due to his sense of originality, MTN paid 30million Naira and made him the face of MTN Pulse. In all, Davido has won over 13 awards within a span of 2 years. He surely qualifies to be in the Nigerian team…

KCee

KCee is a prodigy when it comes to music. He has a unique way of delivering his verses on beats. Not to talk about his performance; anyone who has seen him perform in front of his fans can attest to how he energetically delivers.

‘Limpopo’ became and is still is a hot banger. Several Ghanaian musicians have revealed ‘Limppopo’ as their favourite song. Exceptionally artistic, KCee followed ‘Limpopo’ with ‘Pullover’, which he featured Wizkid.

I need not talk much about it because his works speaks for themselves. Trust KCee to give you the best of performance come tomorrow-24th May, 2014…

Wizboyy

Wizboyy is the hottest kid on the block right now. Day in day out, his ‘Wizolingo’ track keeps rising to the top. There is no single party or event that you would attend without the DJ throwing in Wizolingo several times.

The mid-tempo song with a catchy chorus will be performed by Wizboyy at tomorrow—and you do not want to miss this.

Wizboy has collaborated with several Nigerian musicians to churn out hit songs. You ought to be at the Accra International Conference Center to witness what he does best when he has the microphone in his hands.

The Final Verdict

Looking at the headline acts for both countries leaves us to wonder which country has that perfect team to pull a fast one on the other. All the artistes billed for the night to represent their respective countries are so much on point—and it makes it difficult to tilt the bar.

However, when you delve deep, Ghana seems to have the upper hand over their Nigerian counterparts. The inclusion of Lil Win makes the Ghanaian squad more entertaining. Maybe Osuofia or Mr Ibu should have been included in the list of Nigerian performers so to match the Ghanaian performers boot for boot. (Remember this event is going to be full of surprises so anything is possible).

Notwithstanding the above, all the performers representing Nigeria are exceptionally great. Their relevance and hard work in the music world are unmatched. Davido, Kcee, Wizboy, and the rest are more than prepared for this battle for supremacy.

To witness this battle, remember to make it a point to be present at the Accra International Conference Center tomorrow-24th day of May, 2014. Gate opens exactly at 7pm.

You can’t afford to miss out on such a great musical concert. Tell a friend to tell another friend to be there because it will be a night full of fun and surprises. Do not stay at home and later throw out the phrase “had I known.”
