Over the years, I’ve said that Ghanaians abroad will never support your business and therefore, if you decide to establish a business abroad with Ghanaians being the majority of your customers, your business will drop dead within the first two years.
I’ve witnessed it happen to my Auntie, my Sister, my Cousins and even Myself. The issue is’ Ghanaians do not want to pay for ANYTHING. Even if they are ready to pay, they will rather offer peanuts, far below the worth of whatever product or service you are selling.
Ironically, they will not mind going to a foreigner and paying the person 10x what you are charging. But you being a fellow Ghanaian simply means, you should give them whatever it is for FREE , on CREDIT or at an UNREASONABLE price…

When it came to Ghanaians, they always wanted it for FREE and I won’t say majority or minority of Ghanaians. Damn it, all of them wanted it for FREE or at some ridiculous low price or on credit, which they never intended to pay. Eventually, she closed the business.
I started selling weaves some few years ago and I ended up being in debt, because my fellow Ghanaians took the weaves on credit and when it was time to get my money back, it became one fight upon another.
Yes! It’s a fact! Ghana has not produced any international music icon in the past 30 years – this is a naked truth!
What do I mean by international music icon? I mean a musician that when you mention his or her name, one does not need to Google, read any newspaper, or ask someone to know about the fellow. My own semi-literate mother, who is a trader, even knows or has heard about American musician Michael Jackson – though she can’t sing any of Michael’s songs.
Mention Bob Marley, Lucky Dube, or Michael Jackson and the ordinary person on the streets of Accra Central is most likely to say ‘I’ve seen his picture before’ or ‘I’ve heard his songs before.’ I don’t know which part of the world you may be as you read this piece, but wherever you are, ask anyone to mention just one international music icon Ghana has produced in the past 30 years and reply to this piece.

We tried our luck by throwing in personal questions and ‘hurray’ we got an answer. We framed the question like this; “With you and Director-Shirley Frimpong Manso being a couple, how do you balance private life with the works the two of you do at Sparrow Productions—where do you two draw the lines so that you don’t bring the occasional morning disagreements that take place in every relationship at home to the office?”.

However, we all know the current state of affairs of electricity distribution in Ghana. There is not a single day that lights have will not be cut off without any tangible reason from generators (VRA), transmitters (GridCo), and distributors (ECG).
All manner of insults and curses are hurled on ECG every single day by angry Ghanaians, yet, we see no change. Electricity tariffs are being increased almost every month with the excuse of providing better services to Ghanaians. It becomes very annoying and unfortunate when the promised ‘better services’ become ‘bitter services’.
Among other things, there are times when the providers we pay money to provide electricity for us don’t have electricity at their offices themselves. If such is the case, how then can we even put our trust in them in the first place?
