President John Mahama and Alan ‘Cash’ Kyeremanten Visit Flooded Communities | Akuffo Addo Might Be Joining Soon…Who Told You They Have the People’s Interest at Heart? Tweaa!

Several parts of Accra yesterday witnessed a heavy downpour of rain. The rainfall, which began in the early hours of yesterday (Thursday, June 5th, 2014), continued till late evening. Many of the areas in Accra were heavily flooded. People homes became annexes to beaches. For once, I thought I was dreaming about the days of Noah, where God used deluge to destroy wicked people.

Some few hours after the flood, the president of the republic, John Dramani Mahama, has come out to visit some of the areas that got flooded. According to him, his government will put down appropriate measures to solve the flooding issue the country is facing anytime it rains. Until when will Ghanaians cease to hear such sweet talks from presidents again?

Same talks are repeated year after year, yet we see no change or improvement. Our leaders have become like the Vulture that plans to build a shelter for itself anytime it rains, but forgets about it when the rain stops.

The president is not the only person who has taken the step to console people who have lost their belongings due to the heavy rainfall. Another political figure who joined was Alan Kojo Kyerematen, aspiring presidential candidate of the New Patriotic Party. Mr Kyerematen has also visit places like Kaneshie, Nkrumah Circle, and the rest, in an effort to raise the spirits of the people.

It won’t be surprising if we hear Nana Addo Danquah Akuffo Addo, aspiring and previous presidential candidate for the New Patriotic Party, and Paa Kwesi Nduom, founder of Progressive People’s Party have also visited flooded communities.

This has become a tradition for our politicians. It is their hope for such situations to occur, so they can get the opportunity to meet the people and lay their political ambitions before them.

Whoever told you these politicians have the interest of the people at heart deserves to be ‘stoned’. They are all doing so for their selfish political ambitions. If some of us Ghanaians do not become wise, these political figures will always take them for a ride.

At the end of the day, they (political figures) do not suffer from any of such disasters; it is the people who refuse to put their thinking faculties into use that suffer.
