Brazil 2-1 Columbia: Brazil Survives Columbia’s Onslaught to Win Quarter Final Clash

Brazil Vrs Columbia
Brazil Vrs Columbia

A fierce onslaught on the Brazilian goal in the last ten minutes failed to yield results as Brazil advanced with a 2-1 win.

Centre backs Thiago Silva and David Luiz gave Brazil a seemingly unassailable 2-0 lead, but a James Rodriguez penalty set up a tense final fifteen minutes, Brazil holding on to send the capacity crowd in Fortaleza home ecstatic.

The hosts came up against their South American counterparts with a place in the last four at stake, with expectations lying high on Brazil and poster boy Neymar.

The remarkably open game did not take long to heat up. Brazil won a corner in the 6th minute, from which Thiago Silva turned in Neymar’s cross with his knee, unmarked at the far post.

Brazil created several opportunities, keeping Columbia on the back foot as Neymar, Hulk, and Oscar combined flawlessly behind lone striker Fred.

Columbia’s first effort was a free kick from Inter midfielder Freddy Guarin, which he hit horribly over.

Cuadrado came closer minutes later, cutting in over Marcelo onto his left foot, then hitting a venomous strike which Julio Cesar did well to get down to punch to corner.

That was the extent of Cesar’s involvement in the half, as from then it was all Brazil, with David Ospina in the Columbian goal having to be on top form to keep his side in the game.

Twice Hulk weaved his way into the box, hitting those fierce shots he’s well known for; and twice David Ospina saved well. Off the second shot, Oscar hit a rebound from outside the box which Ospina duly saved.

Columbia had a great chance in the 22nd, after James Rodriguez went on a mazy run, setting up Cuadrado on the right; but the Fiorentina midfielder’s return pass was poor, Thiago Silva getting back to clear when Columbia had a three-on-two advantage.

The half was closed with a Neymar free kick, hit way over the bar.

Becca Responds to Online Rumour Which Says ‘She Had Sex With a Black Star Player in Brazil’

Becca
Becca

Becca has issued a statement, responding to circulating online rumour which has it that, while in Brazil as an ambassador, she was spotted leaving the hotel room of a Black Star player—and that she had sex with this said player…

It has been going on for some days and she has decided to set records straight, stating among other things that, nothing of such nature happened and that she is a practicing Christian and from a very strict Christian home who has worked hard for all she has achieved.

Read the full statement below…

line

Dear Friends,

My attention has been drawn to a face book posting by one Justice Abeeku Newton- Offei on the 30th of June 2014 at 7:51pm as follows:

“One of these so-called ambassadors had sex with Elvis Afriyie-Ankrah and two other Ghana Black Stars players within a spate of 90 minutes in one night”

Prior to the above statement the said Justice Offei- Newton had earlier posted on his face book page that

“i have just had the opportunity to watch a video of some GFA officials having hot sex with some of these so-called soccer ambassadors that were taken to Brazil and paid $25,000 each from the taxpayers’ money; and the content is so damn explicit and menacingly eye-popping.”

And before the above he had posted and attached my picture and that of a fellow female and male ambassador to the text below

ladies and gentlemen, I present to you Ghana’s most notorious presidential ‘comforters’ with their fake-wigs and tons of layers of pons on their faces to fill the gaping-wrinkles, who now travel with John Dramani Mahama in the presidential jet on all his foreign trips, both official and private; and with them is Ghana’s only most accomplished porn-star”.

As a result of this posting an online magazine called Ghana vibes repeated the baseless accusations quoting him in full and soliciting comments from readers who visited the site as if the story was true.

On the 2nd of July 2014, one Valentina Nana Agyeiwaa aka Afia Schwarzenegger on her prime time TV show on   UTV, without basis alleged that I had had sex with a member of the Ghana Football team in exchange for money. Prior to the airing of the said programme she posted the agenda for the evening’s show and included one topic labeled as “sex ambassadors”.

I have decided to use my personal space to put to rest ONCE AND FOR ALL and to RESPOND to the MALICIOUS DEFAMATORY AND BASELESS ATTACKS ON MY HARD EARNED REPUTATION AS A PERSON, PUBLIC FIGURE and ROLE MODEL…

Somebody is Definitely Lying: Did Miss Ghana 2013- Baafi Guiseppine Get ‘KICKED OUT’ Or Did She RESIGN? | Evaluating the Statement

Miss Ghana 2013-Baafi Guiseppine
Miss Ghana 2013-Baafi Guiseppine

Surely, you do not need a master’s degree in common sense or a diploma in English Language to spot the huge contradiction the statement released by the organizers of Miss Ghana-Exclusive Event Ghana carried…

According to a statement from Miss Ghana organizers which we published less than an hour ago, Miss Ghana 2013- Baafi Guiseppine has been relieved from her position or kicked out because her “conduct has not been consistent” to the values and commitment she subscribed to, on becoming the Miss Ghana Ambassador at your crowning.

Let me point it out at this stage that, when it is politely stated that a person has been relieved of his or her position as a result of behaviour inconsistent with certain values and commitment, it simple means the person has been SACKED—for behaving in such a way that is unacceptable to certain agreed standard or expectation.

So according to the first part of the statement released by Exclusive Event Ghana, Miss Ghana 2013- Baafi Guiseppine has behaved in a grossly unacceptable manner—and therefore she has been stripped off her title.

The statement further mentions that, Miss Baafi Guiseppine has been advised not to hold herself or represent the MISS GHANA brand at any forum and she should be “informed that Management of Exclusive Events Ghana limited reserves to itself the rights to institute legal proceedings against her or any person holding herself out as such.” This part of the statement is a warning, probably a threat to shake Baafi Guiseppine up like a chicken…An indication that, there is some tension somewhere.

So far, the diction, tone and structure of the statement indicate that, Miss Baafi Guiseppine has been kicked out/stripped off…

Now this is where it gets interesting—and the contradiction becomes obvious.

The statement mentions that, Miss Baafi made a decision on “Thursday May 22, 2014, that she was no longer interested in being the Miss Ghana 2013 Brand ambassador”.

Brazil World Cup 2014: Early Germany Goal Knocks out Les Bleus

Germany Vrs France
Germany Vrs France

A 12th minute Matt Hummels header was enough for Germany as they scraped past France 1-0 to become the first side to reach the semi finals in Brazil.

The two European heavyweights clashed under a scorching sun in Rio de Janeiro’s Maracana, the largest stadium in the world to slug it out for a place in the semi finals.

The first half was a tame affair, with Germany the better side taking a deserved lead, whilst a docile French side looked out of their depth. A second half resurgence however, saw the French nearly forcing extra time, Manuel Neuer saving a fierce Karem Benzema shot at the death to give Die Mannschaft the win.

Both sides made some changes to their line-ups from the Round of 16. German skipper Lahm went back to his favoured right back role for the first time in this tournament, whilst upfront Miroslav Klose started as he searched for his 16th world cup goal to eclipse Ronaldo. Griezman started for France, after his second half introduction worked wonders in their last game against Nigeria.

Germany was the better side for the entire first half, keeping the ball impressively whilst trying to break France down with quick one-twos around the French box. France relied on the break, wingers Valbuena and Griezman always in place to receive diagonal balls from the French midfield.

France threatened first, Karem Benzema’s volley just wide after a cross from Mathieu Valbuena. Germany’s delivery into the box from out wide was poor, seeing some headed clearances, whilst at the other end Valbuena’s cross on the counter was just a little behind Griezman, being cleared with a sliding tackle from Lahm.

Miss Ghana 2013- Baafi Guiseppine ‘KICKED OUT’ | Organisers Say Her Behaviour Has Been Inconsistent With their Values

Giuseppina Nana Akua Baafi

Exclusive Events Ghana, organizers of the Miss Ghana event, the longest running beauty pageant in Ghana, has with immediate effect relieved the reigning queen, Miss Giuseppina Nana Akua Baafi of her role as Miss Ghana 2013 Ambassador.

The decision, Exclusive Events say has been reached after Miss Baafi’s decision to stand down as Miss Ghana 2013.

A letter dated July 3, signed by the Chief Operating Officer of the company, Samuel Bokorvie, and sent to Miss Baafi reads:

“As you are aware, upon your crowning as MISS GHANA at the 2013 Beauty Pageant Contest organised by Exclusive Events Ghana Limited, the Franchise holders of the MISS WORLD GHANA PAGEANT you became the Ambassador of the MISS GHANA brand and as a result you were to be mentored and groomed for the MISS WORLD 2014 event.

“To facilitate this grooming and mentoring process, you were housed at an official residence and given a chaperone.

“In view of this elevated status as the Miss Ghana Brand Ambassador you undertook to behave and conduct yourself in a manner that would not bring the brand into disrepute and public ridicule.

“We regret however, that your conduct has not been consistent with your commitment to these values that you subscribed to, on becoming the Miss Ghana Ambassador at your crowning.”

The letter further implored her “to hand over all properties belonging to Exclusive Events Ghana Limited in your possession within five (5) working days of receipt of this notice. “

Billionaire-Dr Dre Bags Left Over Food to Take Away After Lunch With His Wife

Dr Dre1

From BeyondGossip.Com

Even though he is the richest HipHop star—and I mean a billionaire, he still does not like to waste food.

After eating lunch at an upscale restaurant in Santa Monica-California, Dr Dre got busy and bagged the leftover—to take away.

Whatever he was going home to do with the food is not necessary, the fact is, he lives a life just like most of us despite his billions. He doesn’t want to be wasteful and therefore decided to take it home, probably to eat it later or for the cats/dogs.

Couple Charged with Murder of their Son in Achimota | Boy Was Allegedly Killed For Attempt to Have Sex With His Mother!!

shocked
Shocked

Children are usually the most cherished part of any family. Parents often would do anything for their children. Especially between a mum and her children there exists a certain mystical connection, not in all cases but certainly in most. This is because people realise that they are their legacy, what would be left of them in this world when the time comes for them to go to the afterlife.

It seems that is not the case for a couple in Achimota, though, as police have arrested a man and his wife for the murder of their eight year old son.

Comfort Abunero and her husband were picked up by police yesterday after the boy’s grandmother filed a report over the suspicious circumstances surrounding the boy’s death.

The boy was living in the North with his grandmother until his mum made a request for him to come down to Accra to live with her and her husband.

Yet the next thing the grandmother knew, she had been informed of the death of her grandson, who had already been buried by his parents.

Police believe the boy was killed over an attempt to have sex with his mother, possibly after being beaten mercilessly; and that the couple buried him near their Dome residence to avoid arousing suspicion.

Are You On Instagram? No I Have REAL Friends

instagram
instagram

The value of friendship and holding conversations with those you call friends has dropped among Africans—the Europeans and Americans lost this many years ago as a result of their non-existing sense of community-ship.

I recently attended a baby christening and almost all the new people I met kept asking; Are you on Facebook, Are you on Instagram or Are you on twitter—and I kept saying, No, I have REAL friends. They found my answer weird but their questions acceptable when in fact it should have been the other way round.

Gradually, we are losing our sense of togetherness as people—no one cares about having real friends anymore, after all, he or she has over 17,000 virtual friends.

It wouldn’t be that sad if we understood that the virtual world is what it is, full of lies and people we cannot truly call friends and that, there is every need to have offline friends—I call them real friends.

Interestingly, majority of us spend the greater and best part of our lives online, updating status messages and begging for likes. I have a cousin who literally begs all her friends to love any photo she uploads on Instagram—the more LIKES she gets, the better she probably feels about herself.

And I also know a person who has to LIKE her own facebook status updates—and asks the others to do so, simply because this makes her feel somewhat excited. Pathetic…right?

People argue and fight over twitter followers and deem it as a bragging right to have more followers or receive more photo likes—and this has become the essence of friendship.

Nadia Buari and Fally Ipupa Chopping Each Other Down…AGAIN?

Nadia Buari and Fally Ipupa
Nadia Buari and Fally Ipupa

We hear Nadia Buari did well over the weekend—when she hosted the BET Experience Live at LA alongside Fally Ipupa for our African nominees.

Though the auditorium had unimpressive heads’ count and we hear Nadia Buari was not paid for the gig—because Fally Ipupa was the person who was hired to do the hosting, but he brought his sidekick-Nadia Buari to help, the actress had fun.

Looking at the video below (4:09), it seems Fally and Nadia who were once rumoured to be chopping each other down are back together—as good friends or chopping down mates.

The way and manner Fally Ipupa who is said to be married with kids was playing with Nadia Buari’s waist brings to mind—all I want is your waist, the Yvonne Nelson and Iyanya saga.

And while this was happening, Mama Buari was there—we think we saw someone like Nadia Buar’s mother out there in the video.

Where is Jim Iyke?

Check out the video below (especially 4:09 going)…

BET Awards Organizers Have No Respect for African Acts…A Boycott Should Be the Way Forward

Davido Wins BET Awards 2014
Davido Wins BET Awards 2014

Dear Chris-Vincent,

African artist should boycott the BET Awards and just concentrate on developing their careers. It baffles me that people who are highly successful and famous in Ghana, Nigeria and other parts of Africa continue to make a fool out of themselves on TV all because the TV station is American.

Let’s not forget that BET gives the awards of African acts backstage—yet these artistes are made to set up and pose as if, it was part of their main show in front of empty chairs (pre recorded with some folks from God knows where brought in to shout). Just look at the photo above…

Last year, Ice Prince embarrassed the other acts and by extension the whole African music industry by asking the other nominated artistes to join him on stage to take a picture—-in an almost empty auditorium so that those back home in Africa will think they are ‘ballin’…

This same absurd act was repeated by Davido at this year’s awards, bringing to light the question; why are some African artists so desperate for recognition from the US? Now don’t get me wrong, it is good to be celebrated abroad but the BET awards is not the Grammys—and if they don’t respect you there, why bother?.

After hearing that this year’s African acts were made to perform in front of technicians, BET workers, cleaners and passerbyers, I just couldn’t hold it again—I had to write this. So BET couldn’t promote and get people to come and watch some of the best acts from Africa and had to fake or struggle with audience?

Sarkodie alone is selling out at events back home so at least the biggest current rapper in Ghana should be treated with the respect he deserves. Then again, before he got on that stage he said “this is our time Africa”. Really?

Rapper-Sarkodie Was Nearly Beaten to Death By a Mob For Stealing

WTF
Spoof Friday

A young upcoming rapper at Walewale in the Upper West region who is named after Ghana’s Best Rapper-Sarkodie, because of his rapping speed was nearly beaten to death by a mob at the WaleWale central market—-when it emerged that the local star had stolen 10 GHS from a tomatoes seller.

The rising cases of mob justice has been rampant in both the Upper West and Northern regions of Ghana, with citizens constantly taking the law into their own hands and punishing those they deem punishable.

About two months ago, a young man was pushed down with several objects thrown at him for the mere fact that, he was suspected of being a homosexual. Had it not been the timely intervention of the police, he would have been burnt alive by the gather mob who had already poured a gallon of petrol on him.

DO You Take Selfies? You May Be SICK…SELFIES Linked to Narcissism, Addiction and Mental Illness

Yvonne Nelson

The world of social media has brought us a lot and with smart phones in our hands, we’ve become unstoppable.

However, scientists have concerns with what has become totally acceptable on social media, posing to take a photo with your own camera of yourself-SELFIE.

According to reports, the growing trend of taking smartphone selfies is linked to mental health conditions that focus on a person’s obsession with looks.

Psychiatrist Dr David Veal who recently spoke on the issue said; “Two out of three of all the patients who come to see me with Body Dysmorphic Disorder since the rise of camera phones have a compulsion to repeatedly take selfies”.

“Cognitive behavioural therapy is used to help a patient to recognise the reasons for his or her compulsive behaviour and then to learn how to moderate it,” he told the Sunday Mirror.
