A ruthless Germany hammered hosts Brazil 7-1 in their world cup semi final game in Belo Horizonte.
Toni Kroos and Andre Schurrle grabbed braces, whilst Thomas Muller, Miroslav Klose, and Sami Khedira grabbed lone strikes. Oscar got the consolation for Brazil a little too late to be of any good to anyone.
The two world superpowers met for the chance to pick up the sole ticket for the final, Brazil on the hunt for their sixth title, Germany their fourth.
The build up to the game had been dominated by Neymar’s injury which ruled him out of the tournament, and Brazil appeared fired up to get the job done even without their poster boy in attendance. Defender Thiago Silva was also missing the game through suspension.
The game started at a pleasant pace, with no inkling of the unpleasant events about to unfold for the capacity filled crowd in the Estadio Mineiro.
The 11th minute was the beginning of the decimation to come, a Kroos corner evading the entire Brazilian defence to an unmarked Muller who easily tapped in.
Brazil was shell shocked, and what followed was a master class in counter attacking football such as only Die Mannschaft could serve.
First off was Klose, who got the ball off Muller from a neat little through ball from Kroos. Cesar saved the first effort, but Klose scored the rebound for his record breaking 16th world cup goal.

Right from last year, organisers promised a revamped competition packed with a lot of exciting new twists and turns guaranteed to pique the interest of patrons of the beauty reality series.
Miss Malaika 2013 in its eleventh edition last year saw Over 500 hundred young ladies at the audition and out of them, the final 12 were selected to start the competition. At the end of the series, Naa Oyoe Quartey was crowned Miss Malaika 2013 at a highly successful final event on October 12th.
Come Saturday July 12th, there will be yet another long awaited moment of auditions for the 12th season of the Miss Malaika Ghana beauty Pageant.
The GhOne TV premises will welcome ladies between the ages of 18 and 25 to be part of the auditions. To be part of this audition and possibly to the next stage, ladies must be beautiful, intelligent, bold, eloquent, audacious, courageous, confident, positive and assertive.
Asamoah Gyan has finally come out to speak about the disappearance of musician-Castro De Destoyer and Janet Bandu, both of whom are feared dead.
In his statement, Gyan continues to hold out hope that Castro and Janet might still be found, whilst also expressing his support and prayers to the two families involved.
The Black Stars captain is a long time friend of the musician, and was actually present during the events on the fateful day that led to the likely demise of Castro and Janet.
The Statement was signed by Anim Addo, spokesperson for Gyan and released on his official site.
If there is one thing you can trust Ghanaians to do, it is to look for underlying reasons for any event, no matter how innocuous. People are always looking for the hand of the spiritual in whatever issue that happens in our physical world.
Therefore whenever any serious tragedy strikes, it does not take long for the conspiracy theorists to come out with their versions of what happened. No person of note can die a natural death in Ghana, and in Castro’s case it has not taken long for the theory surrounding his demise to come out, and this one links several past incidents, including Castro’s ‘death’, all to Black Stars captain Asamoah Gyan.

The implication here is that Asamoah Gyan is somehow responsible for all these deaths, probably to fuel his wealth. As incredulous as it may seem that someone would spend their time to make this correlation, here we have it. The question now is; is it worth our time to examine it, or dismiss it for the nonsense it seems to be: truth, or superstition?
There is a saying in the language, ‘once is an incident, twice is a coincidence, three times is a pattern’ If three is a pattern, what is four? Looking at it from that angle, one must admit it seems curious that one person would be a common denominator at all these incidents.
Yet a cursory check at facts and the whole story begins to unravel. Isaac Vorsah’s brother died in 2010, and reports on the location of the party remain sketchy. I remember at the time of the story people even said Vorsah was the target of the food poisoning.
For the other two accidents Gyan is alleged to have been involved in, one can only classify those as hearsay. There is little information out there and statements like “he sorted out the family” are easy to make without corroboration.
Castro’s death is the latest tragic incident and we’ve already started assigning sinister motives. Gyan and Castro have been buddies forever and whilst you can never read the mind of another human, it seem somehow far-fetched to me that Asamoah Gyan can in any way be held responsible for what happened just because he was on the scene.
In a situation like this, information is required from close relatives and friends of the missing individuals to help police and the general public search for the victims.
Lot of people have had something to say in connection with this Castro and Janet drowning issue – from friends, families, eyewitnesses, spiritualists, and a whole lot. Another person to join the train is Lordina, a cousin to Janet Bandu (the lady supposedly believed to have drowned with Castro De Destroyer)
Speaking in an interview with Sammy Flex on Pluzz 89.9 FM this morning, Lordina (who was very tactful in her communication), revealed that they (family) did not know their sister Janet was at Ada.
According to Lordina, Janet told her mom on Saturday (5th July, 2013) that she was going somewhere with her friends. The names of the friends, according to Lordina, were not provided by Janet.
“This is something she normally does. You know she is an actor (sic) and normally people take them out to go and shoot movies or advert so it’s one of those things. She goes and comes back home. She told the mom that she was going on one of those trips with her friends. She did not mention who those friends are, and she left.”
“On Saturday around 4pm, the mom called her and asked her why they have not come back and she said they will be back on Sunday. These were her words on Saturday around 4pm to her mother”, Lordina added.

Speaking on Adiepa Fm at Techniman in the Brong Ahafo Region, another fetish priest-Nana Katakyie has mentioned that, Castro De Destoyer came to him some years back for some ‘black magic’ or help to enable him become a hit music star. And that, he was supposed to come back and thank the gods after 5 years but he refused.
Apparently, Nana Katayie spoke to some Fm stations two weeks ago about a pending accident which will involve Castro De Destroyer and Asamoah Gyan. Nana stated that, he tried contacting Castro several times and he kept telling him, he will come and see him when he is less busy—obviously, avoiding him.

However, let me add that, in January 2012, Castro sat in the studios of Okay FM for an interview with Abeiku Santana and accepted that, a friend visited a spiritualist for some rituals to be done on his behalf—which were done with his consent. This was after it was reported by NewsOne that Castro had gone for ‘juju’ from a powerful female spiritualist at Madina Zongo in Accra.
Castro was said to have pledged 500 GHS but the ‘secret juju trip’ became news when Castro failed to pay the said amount and stopped picking calls from the spiritualist.
“When Abeiku asked Castro about the incident, he said though the issue was true, he was not the one who went to the spiritualist and that a close friend did it on his behalf.
Castro revealed that it was the same friend who introduced him to the spiritualist but admitted that the rituals were done with his consent.
Interestingly, Castro denied that the rituals done were ‘juju. He said the place was more of a Christian church than a fetish shrine although the items that were used in the said rituals included a bottle of good quality foreign schnapps”.

It is day 3 and the bodies of talented Ghanaian musician-Castro De Destroyer (real name Theophilus Tagoe) and his alleged girlfriend-Janet Bandu who drowned with him at Ada have still not been found.

Though sad, I hope Castro’s death teaches us all a lesson. We ‘Ghanaians’ pride ourselves with everything foreign and we want to do whatever we see the West do, forgetting that there are rules and conditions. Chris Brown does it so Castro must do it too…
I have friends who Jet Ski a lot in Spain but these guys can also swim like whales. Anytime they jump on these machines, they have everything intact—-with life guards and sometimes coast guards not even far from them should there be any danger. These coast guards have planes and others for rescue purposes…
I understand accidents occur but they occur most under hazardous and unfit conditions. It is not even every water body or sea that people are allowed to really Jet Ski in certain parts of the West.
We need to leave behind those aspects of foreign lifestyles that we have NOT mastered.
A 5 year old British girl can swim like hell, and I don’t mean ‘Borla beach’ swimming, professional swimming!
So if you see this girl jumping up and down into water, you don’t have to jump too! We copy everything even when we don’t have the foundation…
How effective is even our search and rescue systems?
I know young guys who call themselves fast and furious in Ghana, racing on those pot holes roads because they’ve seen others do it on MTV or in some damn movies…

Now, many people are confused—with some saying, Castro was wearing a life jacket and others saying, he was not. And so what?
A life jacket does not give you another life—and it does not make you a superman. It’s only a protective measure, not an absolute measure.
The same way you will not jump out of a plane because a parachute has been fixed to your back, so should you not jump into any water simply because you have a life jacket on…
What if the parachute never opens—same as, what if the life jacket is even faulty? There can be a lot of What IFs, the only SAFE IF is when we engage in less risky enterprises. And we must know when and where to take certain risks.
Anyone who has been on any water before with people will surely have been told that, no matter what, don’t turn yourself into a RESCUER—even if you are an expert in swimming.
The ‘abodam’ rapper-Kwaw Kese who was the poster boy of street life at some point in Ghana has split from his wife!
His wife with whom he has two kids is known to be a white American and used to work at the American Embassy in Ghana. The two got married six years ago.
The rapper tweeted in a rather gleeful tone few hours ago that he is single. It is strange that he chose to break the news publicly since he has kept his marriage quiet all these years…
