FrenchKiss, who is one of the best club DJs in the United Kingdom with a huge following at club and on-air levels, has played a critical role in putting Afro-Beats on the map and is happy to return to be part of a bigger project with the ‘Starrs’.

“The reason I was happy about coming down is the fact that, Afro-beats is doing so well out there and seeing my role in pushing the genre in the UK and making it so big now, it’s only fair to come back home, to where the actual music is from, to come to the grassroots and actually deal with the music,” FrenchKiss said in an interview with StarrFMonline.com.

Nana Kodjo Adjei – is actual name – born in London lived out there almost all his life. He said the only years he spent in Ghana were his days at Prempeh College as a Senior High School student.

“My parents brought me down to the motherland for some education and after that I went back to the UK for my College education.”

FrenchKiss studied Audio Arts and Mathematics in College. He started his DJ carrier in London in 1996 by mainly playing in different house parties. He said he had to start from somewhere in order to promote himself.

He recalled: “I bought my own equipment – speakers, records etc and chased my own gigs at different house parties.”

He finally built his following from playing at the parties and then, moved into the clubs as a professional DJ. “I love being a DJ because I love music.”

“My cousin was a DJ and seeing him stand by the desk mixing one record with another just used to put a smile on my face and I wanted to be a part of that,” he opined.

FrenchKiss was well known for his giveaways at the clubs and is one of the first DJs to introduce mixed CDs. FrenchKiss is optimistic he will build a connection with the Ghanaian listener and thrive on the airwaves without hustle.

“I have ever played in Ghana and it was fantastic!

“I first played in Ghana during the Millennium holiday season in 1999 through to 2000. I played at beach parties, all-White events and every other party that mattered in Ghana that holiday season and I connected well with the people, so I have no doubts I will hit it big on Starr FM,” FrenchKiss noted.

He will be greatly missed by his fans in the UK but not as much since he will be heard live online on Friday and Saturday nights from 9pm to 1am via StarrFMonline.com
