Sometimes Let’s Appreciate Ghana – After All, Senegal Learnt From Ghana’s Copyright Law And Music Industry

listening to music

Yes! There are many things that are not going on well in Ghana’s creative art or showbiz industry and I have criticized them – spanning: actors, musicians, event organizers, broadcasters, authors, models, etc.

However, I don’t also fail to bring out the good side of the industry. Today, I bring you one of such positive ones. As an African art writer who believes in giving priority to my continent in my write ups, I took time out to research on Senegal’s showbiz industry and how it’s faring.

One revelation that caught my interest and attention was that, Senegalese musician, activist and entrepreneur, Didier Awadi lauded Ghana’s music industry for its good structures and also advised that Highlife music be protected.

“You have nice music genre which is High Life,” said Awadi. “Don’t let it die. Promote it. That is the key of success. That’s my advice! Keep it! Protect it! Make it shine every day! You have to be inspired by your own culture,” he advised.

Forget the Atheists & Those Who Say We Were Not CREATED But Evolved!

Evolution and Creation
Evolution and Creation

Do you believe that God created all things? If so, you’re not alone; many people share your view. But others say that life and the universe evolved—without the help of a “Supreme Being.”

Did you know that people on both sides of the debate are often quick to state what they believe without really knowing why they believe it. For example:

Some people believe in creation simply because that’s what they’ve been taught at church.

Many people believe in evolution simply because that’s what they’ve been taught at school.

First, we need to ask ourselves an even more basic question: Why do I believe in God?

Because the Bible encourages you to use your mind, “your power of reason.” That means our belief in God should not be based merely on

Emotion (I just feel that there must be a higher power)

The influence of others (I live in a religious community)

Pressure (My parents raised me to believe in God—or else)

Instead, we should be personally convinced that God exists and should have sound reasons for our belief.

When I was in secondary school (in Nigerian term), listening to my biology teacher explain how our bodies function, there was no doubt in my mind that God exists. Each part of the body has its own function, down to the smallest detail, and these functions are often carried out without our awareness. The human body truly is mind-boggling!.

When I see a skyscraper, a cruise ship, or a car, I ask myself, ‘Who built this?’ It takes intelligent people to build a car, for example, because so many small components have to work just right for the whole thing to function. And if cars have to be designed by someone, then so do we humans.

When you realize that it’s taken the most intelligent human minds hundreds of years to understand even the smallest fraction of the universe, then thinking that it took no intelligence to bring that universe into existence seems completely unreasonable!

GUBA Expo 2014

The Ghana UK Based Achievement (GUBA) Awards, which acknowledges and highlights the talents and achievements of British Ghanaians, is in its 5th year. In celebration of this, GUBA is set to host a number of events centred on progress and entrepreneurship, leading up to the awards ceremony on Saturday the 27th of June 2015.

The first of such events is the GUBA Expo; which focuses on promoting business and enterprise within the British- Ghanaian and African communities.

The GUBA Expo will take place in November 2014. GUBA Expo will be a presentation of the work of individuals and groups that have created products based on African culture and will be a great platform for entrepreneurs to advertise and introduce their products to the mainstream market. It will bring much needed support to participating businesses and encourage entrepreneurs to expand their businesses, beyond the parameters of the UK and Ghana. The Expo will also help to attract investors and advertise the participating businesses.

The GUBA Foundation, which focuses on raising awareness about autism and providing support to families and care-givers, will be expanding its services to Ghana, in October 2014, to host a GUBA Foundation Autism Awareness Week. Experts from the UK will organise workshops for local Ghanaian schools and families. This awareness week will bring to light the issues faced by autistic families and connect healthcare providers and services to families. It will be an opportunity for families to liaise with suitable personnel to find solutions to prevailing issues. The overall aim will be to seek substantial support for autistic families from the Ghanaian government. There will be further communication on this event.
