Africa’s leading urban music channel, Channel O, has announced the nominees for the 2014 Channel O Africa Music Video Awards.

Spread across 14 categories, this year’s Channel O Africa Music Video Awards nominees are a showcase of Original African music from all corners of the continent – befitting to the dashing 17 year old music channel that has and continues to consistently be a pioneer for Africa’s musicians and music.

The quality of music videos we have seen over the past few years is testament to the way music videos are playing an increasingly important role in the promotion of African music. It is refreshing to see newcomers nominated with industry veterans in this year’s nominees list and it proves that there is no barrier to making an impact on the music scene. The music and videos produced on our African soil is of the same, if not even better, quality as that of those produced internationally and most of our nominees are no stranger to performing on global stages,” says Channel O Africa Manager Leslie Kasumba.

The Channel O Africa Music Video Awards are the only public voted annual music video awards show broadcast around the continent that exclusively feature African artists and now in their 11th year, 2014 will see the awards taking place on Saturday, 29 November at Nasrec Expo Centre in Soweto, Johannesburg, South Africa.

Ghana National Service Scheme | Is it Worth the HUSTLE?

Ghana National Service
Ghana National Service

Every year around this time thousands of recent graduates develop anxiety attacks as they await the release of the postings for that particular year of service. It was no different this time around, and being a member of this year’s class of personnel made me experience this phenomenon all the more vividly.

The National Service Scheme posts these graduates to different sectors of the job world for a year’s service to the nation, during which they would receive a small allowance in return for their service. It’s a fairly common practice the world over, and it is aside the concept of apprenticeship another way of equipping students with the necessary job experience for their foray into the job world.

As a concept it sounds okay, but in practice the scheme is fraught with difficulties. I mentioned feelings of anxiety in graduates when waiting for the postings and it’s mainly because of some of these difficulties. Already we are seeing the complaints coming in from disillusioned students over their place of posting.

The reason why such an exciting event rather evokes feelings of such dread is due to two problems with the postings, one with geography and the other with expertise.

There Is a Probability that this Year’s Big Brother Africa Will Take Place in a Different African Country

Big-Brother-Hotshots

According to Anne Sackey, Marketing and Communications Manager at MultiChoice Ghana, organizers of Big Brother Africa (Endemol SA and M-Net) are currently looking around South Africa and other African countries with adequate facilities to host the Big Brother Hotshot.

This comes because of the fire outbreak that resulted in the collapse of the building in which this year’s edition of BBA was to be filmed. All previous seasons of BBA were filmed in South Africa, so it will be the very first time if it happens that this particular season is produced in a different African country.

In her submission, she pointed it out that even though the organizers of Africa’s biggest reality show (BBA) are searching for a different location in South Africa and other countries, if they however find a suitable place in Nigeria, they will move to Nigeria to commence the reality show.

“They (organizers) have made it known to us that the launch cannot take place this coming Sunday (September 7, 2014). Currently, they are hunting around South Africa and even on the African continent to see if they will find appropriate set they will use for Big Brother. It can happen that if they find an appropriate place in Nigeria, they will move Big Brother there; but they require at least a week to let us know”, Anne stated.

Cyla Simpson, Founding Member of Christ Embassy Church Publicly Supports Reverend Anita Oyakyilome in Her Divorce Case

Pastor-Chris-Oyakhilome-and-Anita-Oyakhilome-2014-AlabamaU2

High profile divorces can be messy and if you give the media what they want, they will help you make a good show of it.

We have all been following keenly the reports about this high Christian divorce. Many people have blamed it harshly on Pastor Anita Oyakyilome. But members of the church have started speaking up on her behalf. Making Pastor Anita seem like the long suffering wife who just wants peace now.

It seems all has not been well in their home for a long time. I wonder what more information we will get as this divorce progresses with the Reverend Pastor himself behind defended by many as his wife gains witnesses and supporters too. I hope the divorce of man and wife does not divide the church too.

Read what one of the founding members had to say about her almost perfect lifestyle.

Cyla Simpson wrote this on her own Facebook.

“I am writing this to everyone with a heavy heart. It is heart wrenching to see the way people are referring to Rev Anita and how uncultured people are while talking. You don’t need to be derogatory or condescending to express yourself no matter your level as a christian. First I would join true Christians around the world to appeal to Rev Anita but would say listen to God rather than man.

I want to appeal to everyone to please pause and think deep because whatever a man sow, he shall surely reap. This is like beating a child like Ibo elders will say and still take the tears from the child.

Take a step aside and think. Is there a woman who will give up her home on flimsy excuse, if no why are we so callous and insensitive in this matter. I am a married woman and so are many reading this, or you have a mother, a sister or daughter. If you are happy for them to go through whatever brought Rev Anita to this level please continue with your judgmental approach towards her. And the God of truth will visit everyone with same except if there was no cause. Amen!!!

I have read some accusing her of money and power motivation. PLEASE LET ME TELL YOU ABOUT THE PASTOR ANITA I KNOW AS MOST OF YOU YOUNG ONES IN NIGERIA DO NOT HAVE MUCH OF AN ENCOUNTER WITH HER. Rev Anita has been my pastor for about 13 years now. I am one of the founding members of her church and I have seen her grow a church from using all any available venue while planting more churches in faith sending her best member out to start a new church, from two churches in England has grown to churches in almost every borough and cities. Rev Anita will see anyone and everyone regardless of your status.
