Joselyn Dumas
Joselyn Dumas

Ghanaian actress and Television host – Joselyn Dumas – has launched the second phase of the “Xcholera campaign”. The campaign which started late August 2014 is to raise awareness on the outbreak of cholera in Ghana which had infected over 5000 people since June 2014 , and cases continue to increase daily.

The campaign, which was being run on social media has reached the second stage which involves market storms. With these market storms, the team goes out to educate the public on safe practices to avoid cholera. Target areas are markets, hospitals and small communities that are worst hit by the menace.

The campaign takes a different approach from the traditional cleaning up of dirty areas to the creation of awareness on why the public needs to practice personal and environmental hygiene. It is about sensitizing the public to understand the need to clean their environment and getting them committed to staying clean.

Hello Vincent,

Kudos on the excellent work you are doing in Ghana. I’ve been following your blog for a while now and I must say I really appreciate the work you do and how you say things as they are with no bias whatsoever.

You know its funny how some  of these so called “celebrities” think they can do whatever they want in the dark and get away with it? I have some very interesting information about Maria Nepembe a Namibian and former housemate of the Big Brother Africa Series. She is a professional **** and a home wrecker.

D-Black and Doctor Wife
D-Black and Doctor Wife

Maria started having an affair with Dblack right after she relocated to Ghana and this has caused a separation between him and his wife (Yaa) who is a well respected doctor in Tema.

The marriage has gotten so bad and things took a major turn when Dblack casted her in his new movie. They are now on a verge of divorcing all because of this wh**e who has exported her home wrecking trade from Namibia to Ghana.

This old man decided to go for his own granddaughter when he felt like it, but an Accra Circuit Court frowned upon his decision, and sentenced him to 15 years in prison.

The incidents occurred last year, as narrated to the court by the prosecutor, Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Sarah Acquah, and as reported by the Ghana News Agency.

The victim used to run errands for her grandfather, and the old man took advantage of the situation to sleep with her twice, leading to the victim’s pregnancy.

A Night to Remember…Part One

Thelma Louis
Thelma Louis

‘Did you pack this bag yourself ma’am?’

I looked at the immigration officer. She was a woman, 6ft 2, black and fierce, slightly taller than the guard dogs sniffing my bag. My head was swimming.

I had arrived via KLM from Amsterdam to Washington DC that morning. It was a good flight, but the night before was even better. As the American immigration officer pounded my ears with the one question nobody liked to be asked, I realized ‘my night to remember’ could have turned into ‘my life to remember’.

I may have just exchanged my freedom with one night of insane, wild fun.

We touched down at Schiphol Airport right about 6.15am Dutch time. I was fatigued and couldn’t wait to get to my hotel for a much needed shower. Making the flight in Accra the previous night had been a nightmare. I had woken up with a severe headache that morning. I knew who had come to visit, my tooth.

If you are as normal a human being as I am then you will understand that going to the dentist is the most dreadful thing ever. So l did my best to stay out of that awful chair as much as I could. I brushed twice, sometimes three times a day; I did most of my heavy chewing on the left side of my mouth and I gaggled as much Listerine in between meals as mush as I could. But like a thief comes in the middle of the night, so does a toothache and mine had kicked in the front door around 2am and taken everything from me including dear sleep.

I was grumpy. My head of department won’t shut up about the pile of work I needed to submit before I proceeded on my one-month leave starting tomorrow. I was going to be the maid of honor at my cousin’s wedding that Saturday in Virginia, reason I had to leave immediately plus I needed to do my usual one night stop over in Amsterdam. It was my favorite city in the world. Why the hell not. You could engage in any amount of fun in that city and you would still not end up behind bars. I loved the Dutch. TheY were friendlier than the British and much more forgiving than the Americans.

My head was throbbing. My jaws felt like two macho men were pulling it apart. I hadn’t attempted to eat anything for fear of making my situation worse, my stomach was beginning to make noises and I think I could hear one of the guys laughing.

My dentist was upset with me and so was my head of department. Apparently I couldn’t do anything right today. After poking my mouth with the dental mirror for what seemed like a lifetime, my dentist recommended a temporary fill in since I had warned her I was travelling that evening and nothing or anybody was going to stop me. She pumped me with painkillers and proceeded to clean me out and fill me in. I knew the pain would kick in when we started taxing. It was my most stressful moment on a airplane. Somehow I always imagined the plane won’t lift in time and we would end up in the sea or the bushes or the swamp, I don’t know what the hell laid beyond the runway and I hoped to God never found out.

I wrapped my “chalewote” with yesterday’s newspaper and tucked it neatly into my suitcase. My packing was complete. I always kept a packed bag around just incase I had to up and leave. You could never be sure when the army decided they were tired of the barracks and wanted to take over the lavish lifestyle of our corrupt politicians. So I kept a packed bag of my passport, some t-shirts, two pairs of jeans, my loafers, some panties, one dinner dress, one party dress depending on which prince charming I met on the ship crossing over to Australia. Somehow I always imagined that if there were ever a coup the best get away plan would be on a ship heading to the end of the world, i.e. Australia. My headache gave me a slight jolt; I made a conscious note to down some good amount of alcohol once I was on board to see me through the night.

The usual lackadaisical attitude greeted me at Kotoka International Airport. ‘The gate way to Africa’ my ass! That SINGLE escalator hadn’t worked an entire year, the bathrooms were an eye sore and don’t start me on those fans that almost carried your wig away if you had the misfortune of standing in front of it.

CHRIS-VINCENT: Religion is the REAL EVIL… It Poisons Everything | Why My Friend Cried Throughout Her Wedding

religion11
Religion

Disclaimer; If you are one of the many credulous religious persons who believe a MESSIAH resurrected from the death and that a prophet who stayed in a cave was visited by angels—and yet do not want these hysterical beliefs questioned under the microscope of reason, then do not read this article because you might find it OFFENSIVE.

Religion is violent, irrational, makes absurd claims which it hates to be challenged, allied to racism, tribalism, bigotry, glorifies ignorance and invests heavily in the oppression of women and continues to terrorize children—and I am sure I have not mentioned its hostility to free inquiry.

For people like me, the world would be much better if we begin to question the many extraordinary religious claims which of course it offers no extraordinary evidence for…

line

Religion does not and has not only caused us many wars—-with innocent children and women being killed each day around the world for some ill-instituted dogma, it also segregates us and continues to oppress women.

I am yet to come across a religion which offers women equal rights as men—as religion still continues to treat women as objects and inferior. In such an enlightened century, there is a man placed glass ceiling in our churches and mosques; women cannot rise and do certain things that men are allowed to do by virtue of the fact that they are women. And some people do not even find this offensive writes CHRIS-VINCENT on his Brutally Uncensored blog.

It is therefore shocking when you see women who are being treated like second class citizens by this ancient man made institution throwing all their weight in defend of it, regardless of how much they’ve been boxed to the corner.

Any attempt to liberate women, end poverty, diseases like HIV and others is met by one strong objection, serving as a threat to our civilization-RELIGION. How can a religion followed by billions teach that AIDS is bad but not as bad as the use of condoms?

Religion poisons everything, it is a lie being mainly championed by certain charlatans whose genuine interest rest on the control, the wealth and the easy weapon it has become—and not that they want to help anyone obtain a needless salvation, an ancient sketched propaganda.

It is difficult to understand why 21st century men and women continue to dutifully entertain such an ancient institution which has lost its relevance in our today’s world, all because they refuse to measure things against reason, take interest in evidence based proclamations instead of towing the line of faith—believing without evidence.

Religion

If you’ve never been told the truth about religion before, here it is; it is more of a poison than anything else—and just last week, a friend had to cry throughout her own wedding ceremony because religion poisoned it for her, once again.

People try to ignore and pretend as if the tension and division religion placed between people who belong to different sect of this false institution centuries ago does not exist today. Yet, the Muslim cannot out of choice decide to marry a Christian without any sort of religious objection—and the inverse clearly holds.

Just like you, I know people who are Muslims and happily married to Christians, or Buddhists married to Hindus—but they were able to do this by calling a bluff on the hard religious objection. You can only do this mostly if you are ready to lose your friends, family and co-worshipers.

How a tenacious ancient institution with no real benefits to us today continue to hold people and their minds hostage—and perch us against each other in such an evil way, backed by lies is beyond comprehension. But it is happening all around us.

People believe in all manner of nonsense and mere belief does not make anything true but for any reasonable person to absorb the myths, the inconsistencies and pure evil religion preaches makes me wonder if such a person has taken time to properly evaluate the beliefs that were probably thrown at him or her during infancy, when critical evaluation was not an option.

I had a call from Ghana last weekend from my little sister about one of my old friends (she was a class mate for many years and I believe the use of friend sits well) who got married in tears. She was a Muslim by birth and like most religious people, the religion of her parents determined her religion—not that she had any real choice after the many years of indoctrination.

Graphic MD Speaks on the BAffour Gyan Assault Case: Apparently Some ‘Big Men’ are Trying to Persuade them to Drop The Case | He Says They Would Prosecute Baffour Gyan to the Bitter End

Baffour Gyan
Baffour Gyan

The Managing Director of the Graphic Communications Group, the parent company of Daily Graphic, Ken Ashigbey, has reiterated that they intend to prosecute the Baffour Gyan assault case to its bitter end.

Asamoah Gyan’s brother is currently embroiled in an assault case after a Graphic reporter was brutally beaten for asking the Black Stars captain a question regarding his links to the disappearance of hiplife musician Castro.

After two court dates, the case has been adjourned to 19 September after the reporter was unable to appear on the last adjourned date due to medical reasons. At the first sitting, Baffour Gyan and co-defendant Anim Addo’s legal teams revealed they would be seeking an out of court settlement.

But the Graphic MD has reiterated that the prosecution would move forward, whilst condemning the ‘big men’ in society calling on them to dismiss the criminal prosecution.

Speaking at a press event on Monday, he said that as journalists they deserved protection, and therefore nobody was going to get away with assaulting one of their own.
