9 Year Old Boy Used As Meat for Pepper Soup by Grandmother in Nigeria

What the hell
What the hell

A few years ago I used to hear stories of cannibalism still being present in Africa. I never believed them But as I grow, I have come to realise there is still so much dark activity out there.

Back in the old days in Africa, grandma’s end was the best place for a child to run to even when he/she wronged his parents. You always knew grandma would welcome you with love and affection. Parents will actually leave you with grandma if they want you well taken care of.

But somewhere in Africa, many grandmothers are being accused of witchcraft wrongly simply because a few of them are notoriously obnoxious, mischievous and scheming. The west may have its primitive ways but cannibalism is the last thing you expect to hear in 2014. Who would even expect that there are still human beings who will slaughter another like a fowl?

Okay let me retract that. There are human groups that slaughter each other to this day. We know of terrorist groups like ISIS and Boko Haram. But to eat the meat of the human being you were evil enough to kill is a whole different level that we do not hear about. And when those people end up being people you know, your own relatives, your blood, family! It forces us to rethink how safe we are in the midst of family. Africa is indeed riddled with many perplexing issues. Ebola, Cholera, HIV, Terrorism and more. It really is just too much for us to be afraid of being eaten by each other too!

How do you kill a whole human being just to make soup to eat? Have you finished eating everything the world has to offer or will eating another human being ensure that you live forever? What could it be!?

My Thoughts: Ghana’s Electricity Problems…

My thoughts
My Thoughts

Perhaps many of us have not heard of civil disobedience so let me leave that and go for what we may be familiar with—demonstrations.

What will happen if all Ghanaians living in Ghana (I say all because the consistent power cut seems to affect all) get up one day and stage the biggest demonstration in Ghana, demanding for immediate answers to the energy crisis? A national demonstration with all in participation and not a partisan one.

I have visited France over 15 times and there is no day I have visited that country without hearing of an on-going demonstration, usually over petty issues. And you know what, it works. No one or government takes the French for granted…

The social media insults to ECG and the many broadcast about the electricity problem in Ghana is pretty ridiculous, as it won’t put those who have to act on their toes—and someone must force those in charge to act since this has been going on for far too long.

This should not be placed in the box of NDC or NPP, since ECG does not go about asking for party cards before putting the lights off…

Where is the Ghandi and the Martin Luther King Jnr in us? We make those in charge do what they want because we can’t even be bothered to request for accountability—and I mean real accountability.

Ghanaians are too damn patriotic to the extent that, our own good is threatened and each day, people have to endure such pain solely because of the incompetence and lack of vision of those in position.

As Howard Zinn wrote; “If patriotism were defined, not as blind obedience to government, not as submissive worship to flags and anthems, but rather as love of one’s country, one’s fellow citizens (all over the world), as loyalty to the principles of justice and democracy, then patriotism would require us to disobey our government, when it violated those principles”.

It is time for each of us to re-evaluate the situation and ask the most important question; what is next?

Yvonne Okoro
Yvonne Okoro

On Friday in Accra, Actress-Lydia Forson now a Producer and Scriptwriter premiered her movie-A Letter From Adam at the SilverBird Cinemas inside the Mall—and in attendance to support her were Yvonne Nelson, Yvonne Okoro, Sandra Ankobiah, Van Vicker, Haitian born American actor-Jimmy Jean Louis, Reggie Rockstone and others…

From the photos, Yvonne Nelson kept it simple but she was looking good while Yvonne Okoro seems to be struggling for breath in that small sized white dress she squeezed herself in.

Also, I am not feeling Okoro’s hair but then, our celebrities in general seem to have hair issues…

Anyway, check out the photos below…
