When Ghanaians were told the celebrity ambassadors were not going to paid anything except their travel expenses being paid by the taxpayer, we still said their trip to Brazil was a waste of our money as they were not going to make any impact or bring anything substantial to the state.
Today, we’ve been told by Becca, one of the many celebrity ambassadors who followed the Black Stars to the 2014 World Cup that, she was paid 250 dollars each day for just being in Brazil—a total of about 3700 dollars for the 15 days she spent there.
And it is expected that, the other ambassadors were paid this same amount or even more, aside the high cost of their hotel, food and travel.
Becca said to the Commission “I was assigned specific roles to play and I think I did my best. I was able to sell Ghana using my talent, my image, I promoted the image of Ghana and I performed and I think I did quite well with that…as a whole, I think I did my very best” .
From GFA management to celebrity ambassadors, it is obvious the taxpayers’ money were just shared among these people without the State benefiting in anyway…
Now who is next celebrity ambassador to appear? Jackie Appiah or John Dumelo?
