Some interesting news from France, as a 45 year old man married his former stepmom after a legal battle that took months to conclude.

The French are known for engaging in all kinds of debauchery, there’s a reason we call it the French kiss; but it seems even they were not ready to allow this marriage to go ahead.

But Eric Holder, aged 45, fought the case in court to be allowed to marry Elizabeth Lorentz, 48, his former step mom from her previous marriage to his dad.

French law does not allow marriages between stepchildren and step parents, but the duo won their case at a local court in Lorraine, with The Independent reporting the prosecution decided not to appeal.

The wedding was thus allowed to go ahead, taking place in the north eastern part of France, in a village called Dabo not very far from the city of Metz.

And in attendance, to show his support to this fresh union was the senior Mr Holder, Eric’s father and Elizabeth’s ex-husband.

Nothing creepy about this at all.

In their bid to get legal backing to their union, the couple even wrote to the office of the President, but all they got back was a reply confirming the illegality of their plan. They were unperturbed and went on to win their court case anyway

Elizabeth Lorentz was married to the senior Mr Holder from 2003 to 2006 when they split up.

The two aren’t blood relatives, but she was married to the guy’s father. Was the ruling of the court in the right or the wrong?

Ghanaian society would certainly frown on a situation like this, but I wonder if we have a law in place like the French do, meant specifically to tackle such situations.

The framers of our constitution probably missed this one.
