Religious people have never been the most accommodating of opposing views, and some Muslims take that to alarming levels that lead to incidents even worse than this on an almost daily basis.

IS and Boko Haram are just two of the most prominent now, but in the past Al-Qaeda and others have also taken the mantle of radical Islamic groups hell bent on bringing destruction to the world in the name of their fictional God.

I’ve never understood why with all this power he’s supposed to have, God requires such rigorous defence from his followers? I mean he’s omnipotent, and we’ve seen from the Bible he doesn’t mind getting his hand dirty from time to time, so how about leave him to defend himself from the blasphemous?

The BBC reports a Christian Pakistani couple, identified only as Shama and Shehzad, have been brutally murdered by a Muslim mob on allegations of desecrating a Koran. They were beaten to death and then had their bodies burnt at a brick kiln, where the couple worked in the town of Kot Radha Kishan.

The AFP quotes a local police official as having said “Yesterday an incident of desecration of the holy Koran took place in the area and today the mob first beat the couple and later set their bodies on fire at a brick kiln”

Such an incident of brutality against people who more or less worship the same God; because when you look closely the parallels between Christianity and Islam are stunning, with the difference being the packaging both has received down the centuries.

But then radicals are never that logical, and even another Muslim accused of blasphemy would not fare so well either. Which is why I like Christians, they will just look at you funny and curse you and then go on their merry way.

When a set of beliefs meant to get you closer to your maker and spirituality and all that ‘crap’ leads to you killing others shouldn’t you pause and wonder how righteous does a murder make you? Religion is just one more cause of divisions in a world chock full of divisions.
