Nana Quame Returns With ‘AKYE’ Featuring Samini | Must Listen

Akye by Nana Quame Feat. Samini
Akye by Nana Quame Feat. Samini

After a long musical hiatus, Nana Quame has returned—and this is the definition of a grand musical return as he takes on Ghana’s best dancehall artiste-Samini on a new must listen to song-AKYE.

During the early 2000s, Nana Quame (realname Henry De-Mensah) took over the airwaves with many of his thought provoking, catchy and love songs such as ‘Atia Donkor’, ‘Awo Di Me’, Julie and others.

And his grand return tows the same line—stamping his territory as the return of the lost King of contemporary Ghanaian love songs.

Cleverly, Nana Quame brings in the Samini fever which he perfectly laces into his catchy chorus as the two pitch the song on an X-rated level— while well glued on Kaywa’s master beat.

Akye Saa! This is definitely a hit and if you don’t end up playing the song twice or more, you are free to kick me in the face…

Highlife just got interesting…

Ghanaian artist Joey B, thrilled DStv audiences at the Big Brother Africa eviction show this weekend by performing his popular song, Tonga.

Even though musical duo Frankie (Rwanda) and Permithias (Namibia) made it past the halfway mark of Big Brother Hotshots, but their journey ended on Day 35 after failing to gather enough votes from Africa to keep them in the running for the USD300 000 prize. The evicted duo follow compatriots Arthur and Luis, who were part of the trio sent home last week, meaning that Rwanda and Namibia are now out of Big Brother Hotshots altogether.

Butterphly’s surprise was both visible and audible when Head of House Idris revealed during the show that he’d added her to the nomination list. His reason was that he knew she was a strong person, but didn’t believe in herself – so he wanted Africa to vote for her to show her how strong she really is. Still reeling from the news, she stood alongside the other nominees and was relieved when first Frankie and then Permithias left, instead of her.

If Sandra Ankobiah, the non-practicing lawyer turned TV presenter is not calmly relaxing at the expensive Kivotos Hotel in Mykonos, she would be caught parasailing on the calm water or sitting in front of a table, packed with expensive food capable of feeding a multitude.

‘You Would Do the Nation a Lot of Good by Taking ‘Miracle’ Sessions Off-Air’- Former Prez Rawlings

J J Rawlings
J J Rawlings

You cannot escape them nowadays; most television stations in the country have their own versions of it- hours of miracle and deliverance sessions involving pastors and their often awestruck congregations.

It must be some of the most compelling television for Ghanaians, because they often attract huge viewership. These often ostentatiously dressed preachers keep their congregations spellbound, whilst the testimonies keep flowing in from all angles.

It looks more like an A-class production of Broadway more than anything else, but remains hugely influential amongst Ghanaians. It perpetuates the cycle that keeps us dependent on these Men of God, which coincidentally is the path to richness for them.

One person who has realised the dangers continued exposure to such content holds on the free thinking ability of Ghanaians is former President Jerry Rawlings, and at a program over the weekend called for something to be done about those programs, per a Ghana News Agency report.

He is reported to have called for those programs to be taken off-air by TV station owners, unless the authenticity of said miracles can be proven scientifically.
