Christianity has been reduced to miracle pastors so much that those who do not have the ability in one way or another feel compelled to find other means to prove their powers to their congregations.

A lot of others probably do it, but this is the first I’ve heard of anyone getting arrested over it. Can you be charged for something when your audience were so clearly dying to see it?

Graphic Online reports 35 year old Jonas Abedi, along with 40 year old Helena Donkor and three others are in the clutches of the Police in Odorkor.

The five perpetuated a scam aimed at wowing congregants of Power Explosion Chapel at Tantra Hills in Accra, during a service where Abedi was ministering as a guest pastor.

During the service, he asked if there were any sick people amongst the congregation, at which point one of his accomplices, Helena, came forward on crutches, accompanied by another who claimed to be the her sister.

Some prayers were uttered, and after a while the cripple could walk again, to the amazement of the church. To continue his hot streak he called his other two accomplices from the crowd one who he accused of being a gigolo who was in the church to ensnare an older woman with a charm. He asked him to empty his pockets and lo and behold, there was the charm and a condom.

The head pastor of the church herself, Rev Ewurama Annan, became suspicious because all the ‘wonders’ were carried out on people who were not members of her church.

Thus she has the others followed, and it was during the surveillance that the individuals were seen collecting some money from another party.

They raised an alarm which led to their arrests, and Helena and another accomplice Christiana, who played her sister during the charade, confessed they received Ghc 50 each and were given the crutches to use in playing the deception.

You’d think these filthy rich pastors would at least have the decency to pay a lot more for their manufactured miracles.
