Maintain the ‘Status Quo’ Or Induce Change?

Black couple

As humans, we are very loyal to our habits and sometimes people – even the ones that bring us pain and keep us in uncomfortable zone but because we’re used to the experience, thrill, the good moments we have with them, we hang on to the illusions and sabotage our chance to change and bloom. We eventually become unaware when our habits (and people) keep us in a state of unfulfillment, anxiety, sadness, or resentment.

A person who is more focused on promotion is often very positive about change and adopts new ideas quickly whereas someone who is more focused on prevention is happier not changing. This depends on the circumstances we find ourselves in. If they are really bad, we all want. If they are really good, no one wants change.  It’s when things are neither really good nor bad that the differences between people are apparent. Unfortunately, we love the idea of change but not taking the needed steps to change – we slip into the ‘let’s maintain the status quo’ anthem because if it’s not broken…don’t repair!

Teranga Lions Humble The Black Stars in Group C Opener

Black Stars

After 90 minutes of action in the opening Group C game The Teranga Lions of Senegal coolly dispatched the Black Stars 2-1 with a late goal that broke Ghanaian hearts.

Stand-in skipper Andre Ayew put the Stars ahead from the spot in the 14th minute. But a lackadaisical Stars side allowed the Senegalese back into the game. Stoke City’s Mame Biram Diouf got the equaliser, only for substitute Moussa Sow to strike deep into storage time to send Alan Giresse and his boys into ruptures of joy.

Asamoah Gyan was a pre game doubt due to a bout of malaria, and the skipper failed to make the side despite a little hope he might recover in time. In his absence, the responsibility for leading the side fell on Marseille’s Andre Ayew Dede.

Never one to shy from responsibility, the son of Ghana’s living legend took the challenge with aplomb. When Christian Atsu was brought down in the box, there was never any doubt about who was hitting the penalty. Ayew’s shot straight down the middle giving Ghana the early lead.

SHARE AN OPINION: KKD And The 19 Year Ewuraffe Thompson | Who Has Lost BIG in Life?

Miss Ewuraffe Orleans Thompson right and KKD
Miss Ewuraffe Orleans Thompson right and KKD

At long last, the 19 year old girl, Ewuraffe Orleans Thompson, who caused the arrest of communication and media expert, Kwasi Kyei Darkwah popularly known as KKD on 27th December, 2014 – following a rape complaint against him, has come out to state that she is no longer interested in pursuing the case. However, the case is not over yet – it’s still in court.

From whichever angle you chose to look at the case or analyze it, was your prerogative right! In every situation, there is cause and effect. In this case, the cause was that KKD met the lady at an event and had seks with her in the hotel’s washroom – which later turned into a rape allegation.

So now, let’s look at the effect – and I mean the long term effect the whole rape story would have on Ewuraffe Orleans Thompson and Kwasi Kyei Darkwah. Which of them is at a big disadvantage in life in the long run?

One school of thought that speaks for KKD claims KKD has finished paying his dues in life and in his chosen field – media, communication, tourism, art, marketing, and branding, therefore, he is like a brand that has reached its peak and thus has to decline so he has nothing great to lose!

He can boast of a house both in Ghana and abroad, fleets of cars, all the nicest costumes and perfumes, and has two grownup children who are all doing well in the field of communication. As far as the rape case is concerned, it doesn’t seem like he will be convicted—except that there is a hovering speculation of out of court settlement.

Due to that, some giant companies or clients of his may still work with him or contract him for what he knows best doing.

Another school of thought who speak for the Ewuraffe might also posit that Ghanaians generally have short memories – give this story a month and majority will forget there was even a rape case involving one Ewuraffe and KKD.

Also, Ewuraffe is not a popular girl so most people may not recognize her if she is walking on the streets of Accra or enters any office to do business or seek any corporate help. Nonetheless, as long as the World Wide Web exists, if you Google anything concerning Kwasi Kyei Darkwah aka KKD or Ewuraffe Orleans Thompson in the next 50 years, their rape case will pop up.

**Watch Live: Africa Cup of Nations-Ghana Vrs Senegal + the COMMENTARY

Celebrating the BlackStars Win In Ghana
Black Star Fan

The 2015 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) kick-started on Saturday-17th January at Equatorial Guinea. The host nation stepped in to host the tournament after Morocco refused to host due to Ebola fears and subsequently got banned from the tournament.

Equatorial Guinea took on Congo in the opening game of the tournament, a game that ended in 1-1 draw. In the second game, Gabon breezed past Group favourites Burkina Faso 2-0.

Yesterday, we saw Zambia taking on Congo DR whilst Tunisia tried on Cape Verde for size. The two enthralling games both ended in 1-1 stalemates, marking three 1-1 draws out of four games at the tourney.

Today at 16:00 GMT, the Ghana Black Stars will go head to head with Senegal—and GhanaCelebrities.Com will be running an interesting live commentary here + live broadcast of the match here.

Ghana’s Black Stars would be hoping to annex our fifth nation’s cup crown, 32 years after winning the fourth in Libya. Recent tournaments have not been too kind to the Black Stars, finishing fourth at both South Africa 2013 and Gabon-Equatorial Guinea 2012, after winning silver at Angola 2010.

The Stars have made the semi finals for the past four consecutive AFCON tournaments, and after the disappointment of Brazil Ghanaians would certainly be expecting just a little bit more from the side this time around. It’s going to matter little, in the final reckoning, that Avram Grant is a new manager who has had barely any time to get to know his side.

Asamoah Gyan, now a veteran of several tournaments, leads the side. A hugely talented side would rely heavily on his goals, and without any productivity from Baby Jet it’s difficult to see us progressing past a group stage rightly labelled the Group of Death.

Senegal has always been difficult, and the attacking talent this side is brimming with is enough to give all the other coaches in the group splitting migraines. Compact and powerful, they would be the Stars’ first opponents and would serve as a suitable litmus test to what the Stars might be able to accomplish in Equatorial Guinea.

The 8 Horsemen & Women: ‘Denying Ignorance Through Discussions’

Ignorance

Holding any sort of intellectual discussing on social media can really be difficult as any person at all can comment—and mostly, these ‘any persons’ jump in with insults if they are not making some sort of ridiculous argument.

To keep a decent social media conversation going and to tap into the minds of others, I have started an unending thread on Facebook with 8 people—called the 8 Horsemen and Women.

These people are some of the greatest minds I have met online with different backgrounds—and the conversation has been great, so far…

It’s an unending conversation and therefore I have decided to share it with those who may be interested…
