The Black Stars Just Proved that PRAYERS Do Not Work | Stop Wasting Your Time…

Ivory Coast
Ivory Coast Wins AFCON 2015

Disclaimer; If you are one of the many credulous religious persons who believe a MESSIAH resurrected from the death and that a prophet who stayed in a cave was visited by angels—and yet do not want these hysterical beliefs questioned under the microscope of reason, then do not read this article because you might find it OFFENSIVE.

Religion is violent, irrational, makes absurd claims which it hates to be challenged, allied to racism, tribalism, bigotry, glorifies ignorance and invests heavily in the oppression of women and continues to terrorize children—and I am sure I have not mentioned its hostility to free inquiry.

For people like me, the world would be much better if we begin to question the many extraordinary religious claims which of course it offers no extraordinary evidence for…line

I started gaining extra 15 minutes sleep each night since the last time I realized prayers do not work—and there is no God sitting up there listening to prayers or answering them.

Of course there are people who will spend hours upon hours praying for something to happen—instead of getting out of their prayer delusion to go out there to work their butts off.

There is no evidence that prayers work and yet people do not want to accept this fact; anyway, they themselves have prayed for certain things on many occasions which have not materialized—and absurdly they continue to pray.

To be frank, you must be drinking gallons of kerosene to keep praying despite the fact that it has never worked—and hoping it will somehow work for you.  Even when it has not worked for you on numerous occasions, you continue to do it. I do not call this faith; I call it total madness…

Yesterday, before the crucial Ghana Vrs Ivory Coast African Cup of Nations Penalty Shootouts; we saw the Ghanaian players praying—and not just then, the supporters including a friend I was watching the football match with went on their knees to pray.

The result of the penalty kick we all know—and the question is; what happened to the numerous prayers? I have three possible answers; God is dead, God does not answer payers or God is not interested in prayers/football.

AFCON 2015

The Ivoirians also prayed and the fact that they won the competition has nothing to do with their prayer or God—chance and luck are random, mostly influenced by hard work, dedication and focus.

We’ve become a generation of prayer warriors and it really bothers me. It’s one thing to believe there is a God sitting up there (even that I find it laughable) but to be gullible enough to think that, this God in heaven actually answers prayers—to the extent that he has time to be interfering in football; 22 men chasing some round object on a green grass is pretty sad. A day before the finale match, the President of Ghana-John Dramani Mahama instructed Ghanaians to pray for Black Stars’ victory…

A website proudly reported “Christians in Ghana on Sunday offered special prayers for the senior national team the Black Stars ahead of their titanic African Cup of Nations (AFCON) final with the Elephants of neighbouring Cote d’lvoire in Equatorial Guinea.Congregations at various churches prayed for special strength and energy as well as wisdom for the Black Stars players to defeat the Elephants and end 33 years of AFCON cup drought.

At the Wesley Methodist Cathedral in Cape Coast the congregation poured their hearts out and asked God to give victory to the Stars because without Him the Stars labour in vain.”

Every evidence on a cosmic or quantum scale shows that prayers do not work and yet, people continue to employ this easy mechanism—all because, we ignorantly deem ourselves so important as animals and expect that we will be favoured or listened to by some higher power who has nothing to do with his/her time, except to sit down and be interfering in our affairs per our request.

Prayer
Prayer

It’s plainly stupid and pretty selfish for any right thinking person to even assume that considering the many world crisis—ranging from Iraq to Syria and from Northern Nigeria to Afghanistan, a celestial God will leave all these problems unattended to, just to enjoy a football match between two nations and in fact, pick a side to support; thereby helping them become eventual winners…

Don’t tell me these people, I mean the many Ghanaians including the footballers and my friend do not believe so—else, what was the prayer for?

Look, can we start using our brains as people and begin to call a spade a spade?

I won’t mind eating with you if you believe in the God hypothesis because a lot of people believe in far worst theories but to actually somehow come to accept that you are so special amongst the billions of people in the world—and the billions of galaxies in the cosmos; and as such, God listens and answers your prayers is a clear definition of ‘narcissism’.[sociallocker]

When the Black Stars lost following the prayer of my friend, that of the players and the many Ghanaians, I asked my friend this; what happened to your request/call to God to intervene and he looked at me, saying; ‘God does what He wants’. If God does what He wants—then it’s obvious prayers do not work because you cannot persuade Him to change His mind.

His answer was not much of a shock to me because I expected it—but it’s his conviction that prayers actually work and God would interfere in football matches or ‘stupid’ enterprises like that which baffles me.

The last time I wanted to sleep with a girl I had just met, I said a quick prayer and she actually banged the hell out of me—meaning, God answered my prayer to help me fornicate; duh…

We must not continue to undermine our sense of reason like this as a race. We may claim to get a lot of benefits from faith, religion, believe in God and those other things but at least, we should apply a little common sense to some of our claims or activities. We should know when we have to take responsibility and charge of our existence…

Anyway, who sincerely believes prayers work? That person should let me know because I know of a research centre looking to conduct another research on prayer. They want to let you pray for 3 hours and throw you out of a flying plane—and let’s see if God will send beautiful strong angels to catch you up in the air so you would be able to land unhurt.

It doesn’t cost anything to use your head sometimes…you know![/sociallocker]

  1. U’re not even making sense. If prayers don’t work for u,it does for some of us.Why don’t u get it that there’s nothing u can do to stop some of us from believing in God?If I were u I would have given up on this anti-God campaign unless it is to generate traffic to this site.

    • And if I were you, I would just stop reading such articles as the DISCLAIMER vividly says; it is not meant for minds like yours…Enjoy the daily gossip we serve, perhaps that is tailored for your consumption and we have a lot of those for you…

Of course prayer works and we saw it working yesterday…LOL

    • Look at this. Someone wrote such a detail article and as a Christian or Muslim this is all you had to say to prove your point? You are a loser before you even start. I am glad I am not one of these pathetic people calling themselves religious because they cannot even defend their practices and beliefs.

If anyone is not making sense it is your comment.

    • really? some of us enjoy the education even if we don’t agree with everything. Until this weekend, I didn’t know so many other religious leaders before jesus christ were also said to have been born of virgins, died and resurrected and did miracles. It was an article I saw on GC that took to research futher. It is good to learn

      • I will be happy if you can provide a link to the article you are talking about. I know Jesus is the only one who was born of a virgin and there is good reason for it. See God knew one day man will betray him..that why he made a provision for it by giving the woman a womb. After the fall of man…satan knew God had a plan to redeem his children and satan had a plan of his own. Satan was created a perfect being and God actually made him a leader…He actually had subjects and authority but like some of our leaders today he wanted more power and became jealous of God. In Genesis 6:1-6…why were the sons of God sleeping with the daughters of man. The sons of God are the fallen angel and the reason why they were doing that was to corrupt the birth of Jesus.that is why God destroyed that generation exception of Noah and his family. See the reason for the virgin birth was to make sure that Jesus’ birth was not corrupt because man was of a sinful nature. How amazing is that a child and her mother’s blood does not mix.

  3. Hmmm Asem ye na wo ako ka yi? I am a christian but not average christian who calls blood of jesus or God in everything silly like during exams, driving test or football. It is foolish that people do that because prayers is not for such nonsense. I know of a lady who always prays that a certain man should marry her. This man is already married with kids and lives with his family. Some people need to be educated but they dont’ want to be educated

    • Stephany education??what do you call education? as a christian you should know how and why to pray why should we not call Jesus upon everything in our lifes??is he not the one holding this world. What kind of strenght do you have to help yourself in this world??we human beings always think we’re invincible when everything is ok in our lifes.

  4. My bible tells me….heaven helps those who help themselves…thereby encouraging hardwork…it even goes further to say he who does not work should not eat…meaning put in the work first and then you can expect the reward. I also read that “thou shall not test the Lord your God”…so if even Jesus God’s son refused to jump off a high mountain to prove/brag about his father’s power and supremacy…then who am I a mere sinner to put him to the test. As for me I have too many blessings and miracles in my life to deny the existence of God. I’d rather believe he is than to reject him only to find out at the end of time that he truly is God.

    • Quote where the bible says heven helps those who help themselves .

You know . I have no prove that God is real . However , I can testify that juju is real . I’ve seen it work . As long as those things exist , and we don’t see those behind it with our naked eyes , then God is real too.

Back to this topic . I think it’s foolish for us to pray during a football match. Ivory coast probably prayed too . So whos God going to answer? This is based on focus , luck and hard work .

I don’t pray to God for money or anything. All I ask for is luck and protection . Protection cus i know witches are real as well as jealousy. Luck because . Mostly , everything is based on a little bit of luck and a lot of hard work .

we all doubt the existence of God. A lot of Christians do. But maybe u should try this prayer Chris .

“God, I don’t know if you’re out there. I’m not sure how I feel about you if you are. But if you do exist I’d like to know more about you. Reveal yourself to me. Help me to find you.”

Witches and juju are 100% Real. Hence , I kinda believe God is too .

  6. I really pray for you and I hope God will open your eyes to see His power. You think you are self made and that you created yourself. I always read your stupid articles and chooses not to say a word but you have taken this too far. Listen every true believer knows that it only God’s will that will come to pass..that is where you got all this wrong. When Jesus disciple asked him in Matthew 6:9-13…teacher teach us how to pray Jesus said when you pray say this ” Our Father in heaven, hallowed by your name, your kingdom come, your will be done on earth as it is in heaven”…..Jesus did not tell us to say we should say let us humans our will be done….So if yesterday it was God’s will that Ivory Coast win the cup then We as the children of God are fine with it because For all I know is that All things not some works together for the good of those who love the Lord. Now let me take the time to address other post that I have seen on here and decided not to comment on them because they were a waste of time but I think the time has come for the children of God to stand up to people like you. Last week there was an article about Stephen Fry when he asked what will he ask God at the pearly gate of heaven and he said ” I”II say, bone cancer in children? What is that about? How dare you create a world in which there is such misery that is not our fault? It’s not right, It’s utterly, utterly evil.” I actually watched on tv in the state and I was appalled to say the least because he is ignorant like yourself. God said in Hosea 4:6 ” my people perish for lack of knowledge.” God did not create a world full of evil…God create a perfect world and if you care to know for yourself read Genesis and even if you don’t believe in prayer…pray and i will pray with you that God will help you understand his word and help you know the truth. In Genesis God the perfect world and man dwelled under the presence of God where there was peace and man was shielded from all evil but when man sinned God cut man from his presence. There is more I will like to add but don’t have the time. If you have any questions about anything in the bible ask and will find an answer for you.

    • I am a Christian but i think you are stupid for 1 , insulting him . Two, u don’t force Christianity on someone. If u found God . its God’s will . If Chris hasn’t . Its God’s will too just like your bible quote says .

Just shut up and pray for him in silence . With time he might know. Maybe not . He lives his life u live yours . Stfu . You are one of those if the bible ever talked about killing non believers u would be willing to do it .

Dont force shit on anyone .

Have a wonderful day and if I’m a christian and I’m a fool…I am a fool for God and I am happy about that.

  8. Very stupid article. You don’t need to rundown anyone’s belief to prove you are insane. Whatever works for you go out there and do it and stop calling people who pray ‘mad’. Do you think you and your pagan ilks are more successful than the millions of Christians/muslims who call on their God everyday? If you indeed wanted to write a fair article you would point out to your readers that Ivory Coast has the biggest catholic church and thus are equally religious and prayerful.Do you know what prayers were said in Ivory Coast and did they not end up winning??? So why the heck will you write a stupid and myopic junk to make it seem like only Ghanaians prayed and they ended up not winning.Rubbish indeed.

Why do you waste your time on something that does not exist to you. Everything shows that you know there is a God. You probably went through something at a point in your life that made you question the existence of God. Stop with the nonsense.

  11. I didn’t read the article because I definitely know I would not agree with it but if Chris does not identify himself with any type of religion then that’s his decision. Christians if you are so deep into your religion and belief then why would you let Chris piss you off. Did you not read the disclaimer, you did not have to read it but you did and now you only have yourself to blame for being upset. If prayers did not work for the blackstars doesn’t mean that it does not work for you as Christian. Christians you should be more confident and not let other people’s opinions bother you.

He knows his job and he is doing well. Unless you are smart to rebuttal him on an intelligent level, keep your thoughts to yourself. The dude is smarter and he knows what he is doing…

Yes I said nonsense and called his article stupid because they are so and that does not make me unchristian. Frankly where is the actually insult in what I wrote. Is it the fact I said stupid articles. I was going to say worst than that after being convicted on the fact that we should do all things in love. I will not shut-up….I will forever stand for my God..so if you are going to be the christian who will just stand and let whoever say our God is not who He says He is than I am sorry I will not. Secondly, he can live his for all he want I care less. Thirdly, this is for you Proverbs 10:21…”The lips of the righteous nourish many, but the fools die for lack of sense.” Lastly, If saying stupid articles is an insult then I will like you to ask you to go and read Matthew 3:7….I guess John the Baptist also insulted the Pharisees and Sadducees when he said..” you brood of snakes.” Is he justified in saying that??? My God will not tell me to go and kill someone even if he is a non-believer.

  16. I agree with you on this point when you say Ivory Coast also prayed. I believe there are children of God over there as well. I do believe God does not choose sides when it come to things like football. I do not agree with you when you say you only pray to God for luck and protection. When you do that…you are turning God into a mere magician and He is Bigger than that. You will have to think about God as your father and as child of God, whenever you need anything you go to your father in prayer and ask him because he is your father. I can attest to that, my parents left my siblings and I at a every young age in Ghana and migrated to the US. My guardian in Ghana was good but as human as she is she had her short comings. Some days I will go school hungry and with no money to buy food but God was merciful to me..one day I prayed to God for a certain amount of money because I was hungry and I got that money and there are days God will cause people to buy food for me without asking. I will actually be in my classroom and a senior come by and say to me let go and eat without me asking for it. My God has been good to me and I know that was not luck because it did not just happen by chance. Nothing that happens to me is not by chance. Listen if you desire something ask him and he will give it unto you. Pray that God will let you see him for who He is and not a mere magician.

    • Well there are people who are going thru what u went through And they’ve never eaten . Why ? Are u better than them ? It’s luck . God is my father. if I know i have to go to farm or something to get food to eat. I won’t sit on my a** like a begger and tell him to let someone bring me money in my room . If u didn’t go to school do u think someone would have seen ur hungry face to ask u to go eat with him ?

  17. I cannot quote for now because I haven’t really read my bible in about a year….now trying to get back into it which hasn’t been easy with all the distractions around and things to do….let’s say you remove that “quote”…the bible still supports hard work as opposed to laziness…read about the ant in proverbs I think….anyway I’m not here to convert you…I’m not even going to bother trying…because at the end of the day that’s an individual decision we all have to make. If juju exist then “God’s power” must exist for there to be some sort of balance in the spiritual world. ..the same way good people reside with bad people in this physical world of ours. As for me I have a testimony I will share with you today…about the great grace mercy and protection of the Most High God…without Him I wouldn’t be here today…some years back I was saved from a terrorist attack at a train station because that day I was late for class…the suicide bombers chose the rush hour…..so a few minutes before or on time and I would have been dead and gone for good…but for His Grace. I believe in prayer…just not for the blackstars… till they get serious and play to win instead of sleeping in the second position like they’ve been doing for a while now . ..because I seriously could have prayed for something much better. Let’s just say I will be selective with my prayer from henceforth. By the way how do you explain why Ghana didn’t get the ebola when it was at peak….and still hasn’t? Because we all know how things are done in our dear country….plus considering our location it should have been a different story. Or?

  18. Wow Chris, You certainly opened the floodgates on this one. In any sensible society, the conclusion would have been that the Ivorian god was better than the Ghana god. But not these Ghanaians. They will rather attack the messenger than look at the evidence. If someone who constantly throws out the power of his god, prays for his team to win a game and they lose they way Ghana lost (2 shots ahead of ivorians), any sensible being will conclude that the god they prayed to was weak and that the Ivorians had a better god or power behind them. Now this only true of you believe god determines success and failures. Or God plays football. If you don’t believe any of that when why do you pray for success? Why did churches in Ghana pray for the success of the stars. And what sort of reflection are they doing for this debacle. Have they concluded that their god is not that strong? Or doesn’t care about football? which is it?
