Reporting of Negative Stories By Ghanaian Journalists & Bloggers Kill Ghanaian Artists’ Career Says Kaaki’s Manager | What About Rihanna, Chris Brown, Beyonce, Kanye West & the Others?

First of all, I would advise rising dancehall artiste-Kaaki to consider looking for a new manager—because Jam Master Jay seems to know little about artiste management or lacks the needed international exposure on the subject matter.

According to various online reports, Jam Master Jay-a Ghanaian sound engineer who doubles as the manager of Kaaki stated on Starr Fm that, the manner in which Ghanaian journalists and bloggers report or sought after negative stories on Ghanaian artistes kills the latter’s career—and he even cited Raquel as an example.

There’s no logical correlation whatsoever between the reporting of negative stories about an artiste and career stagnation or death; but surely there is a clear relationship between non hard work and lack of career growth.

So that you would realize the ridiculousness of Jam Master Jay’s assertion, think about how many negative stories (some factual, many false) that the western media (both online and offline) throw out each day about leading world artistes like Rihanna, Beyonce, Chris Brown, Kanye West and the others…

The question is; are their careers dead? In fact, if anything at all, these people continue to get better and stronger—and their careers continue to flourish in the face of all the negativity.

I have for many years been confused about what some people like Jam Master Jay term as negative stories—because, if Raquel decides not to wear a ‘dross’, following which she puts her entire coochie on display; what is a journalist or blogger’s crime of negativity if he or she reports or takes interest in this occurrence?

As long as a journalist or blogger is not going about COOKING stories (either negative or positive) about any body, he has not really done anything horrendous by just reporting what these artistes create themselves.

If you expect to engage in weed smoking, needless Pub fights and others—and expect to gag the media from talking about these, then you are the one that needs to check yourself into a hospital with your manager…

The many years of writing on Ghanaian Entertainment have taught me that, majority of these entertainers lack the real world understanding and knowledge, more so, they lack the needed exposure required to push their careers—and as such, they widely consider any unfavourable publication as defamatory, negative or career killing.

Talking about career, it’s obvious we do not know what amounts to a career—because releasing a single or acting in a movie on ease does not give you a career in the music or movie industry. Most of these entertainers are in search for a musical or movie career—they do not have one yet.

You cannot single-handedly sell a small auditorium’s concert ticket and yet you claim to have a ‘solid’ career in music? That is a big JOKE.

The truth is; most of these people do not have any career yet and the earlier they realize this, the better it would help them in their search or efforts to build a career…

For Kaaki’s manager, if you have such a person managing an artiste in search of a musical career, then that artiste is set to surely fail—which she may later be compelled to blame the media for her own choices which led to her failure…

  1. Well said. The attack on journalists and bloggers by so called celebrities and their equally confused managers is something which has always been puzzling me. Instead of them having a defined goal and well thought out plans on how to build their artiste’s brand and career, they go about throwing their weight about and attacking journalists. The difference between local artistes and foreign ones is that the foreign artistes have perfected publicity to a science and they seem to know exactly what they want, what they intend to achieve and how to implement their gimmicks to make that a possibility. These confused lot should stop with the stupid darts thrown at journalists and bloggers.
