More Riots: Tuna SHS Students On The Rampage After A Teacher Ordered A Female Student To Strip

TUNA SHS

Seems riots and public disorder are the rage these days, as everywhere you look another one erupts in our dear old Ghana.

Our Senior High School students are getting in on the act too, as this incident follows on the heels of the one at St Paul’s in Denu; where the students rioted because they weren’t allowed to lynch colleagues they had accused of homosexuality.

Citifmonline reports of a riot at Tuna Senior High Technical School, which occurred after students, were unhappy due to a treatment meted out to a female student by a teacher.

Apparently the teacher was unhappy about the dress the lady had worn to prep- he deemed it too inappropriate. So he asked her to strip down, which she did in the presence of all her colleagues.

This enraged some of the students, who proceeded to vandalise some properties on campus; matters became worse when the school headmaster slapped one of the students engaged in the rioting.

Police had to be called in, and over 30 students were arrested, most of whom has been granted police enquiry bail. Investigations into the matter by police are ongoing, and the teacher involved in the incident with the female student remains at large.

Seems we really revel in unorthodox teaching methods down here- the behaviour of the teacher beggars belief, but is not surprising considering another teacher’s punishing methods we heard of during the week.

On the flip side, students are becoming a little too eager to take matters into their own hands these days; and considering there was a fatality involved in the St Paul’s incident, you would think there would be a little more circumspection in dealing with situations that have the potential to get out of hand.
