The Film Directors Guild of Ghana (FDGG) has officially been launched in Accra on Friday, February 27, 2015. The ceremony which was chaired by a representative of the Speaker of Parliament – Rt. Hon. Mr. Edward Doe Adjaho – seeks to bring film directors across the country under one umbrella to champion a worthy cause.

Delivering the keynote address, President of the Film Directors Guild of Ghana, Mr. Richard J. A. Boateng stressed on the need for film makers and the government of Ghana to collaborate and establish a strong film industry.

According to him, Ghana as a country does not have a film industry. He attributed this to lack of unity among film makers; therefore couldn’t join forces to champion that course. Mr. Boateng indicated that it is based on this that they (Film Directors) have established the Film Directors Guild of Ghana. As he puts it, “Ghana is ready to put structures and professional measures in place to help govern and administer the businesses of film making in this country.”

4 People in Tanzania Charged With Murdering An Albino Woman And Cutting Off Her Legs And An Arm For Black Magic Rituals

For many years, Albinos have been hunted down in different parts of Africa like animals—and often murdered with their ‘special’ parts being cut off for black magic rituals.

Believing in black magic is the fountainhead of many African superstitions—and even if you see such beliefs as non-harmful, the fact that someone must be killed for some rituals to be done for the magic to work shows we should start cutting through all superstitious hogwash.

“Four people have been charged with murdering an albino woman in Tanzania and cutting off her legs and an arm for black magic rituals.  Zawadi Magindu was killed at Nyamalulu village in the north western Geita region of the African country in November 2008. The four people accused of killing the 22-year-old have pleaded not guilty with a hearing set to continue next week,” reports MailOnline.

American Atheist Bloggger Butchered to Death in Bangladesh | I Will Be Totally Insane to Ever Support Religion

Avijit Roy

Interestingly for me, I am currently writing my LLM research on the clash between Freedom of Expression and Freedom of Religion—and even though extensive liberalist-Sam Harris argues that there is no way a person’s free speech can affect one’s freedom to practice his or her religion, we cannot ignore the increasing physical attacks on individuals who take pride in free speech by various religious zealots.

Recently, several journalists at the satirical magazine-Charlie Hebdo were killed by radical islamists, followed by another attack in Copenhagen during a free speech and Islam debate—and now a prominent American blogger of Bangladeshi origin- Avijit Roy has been buttered to death with machetes by unidentified assailants in Dhaka for just expressing secular views which many found offensive.

“The body of Avijit Roy, founder of Mukto-Mona (Free-mind) blog site – which champions liberal secular writing in the Muslim-majority nation – was found covered in blood after an attack that also left his wife critically wounded,” reports the Guardian.

Manager Of Shatta Wale-Bull Dog Has Fingered Charter House | Says ‘I Watched How You Took Advantage Of Your Staff. You Schemed And Took Jobs From Other Companies With Your Dirty Tactics. You Are Battling Your COO Over Shares, After He Helped You Build Your Empire’

Bull Dog

Manager of Shatta Wale, is really bent on exposing a lot of company secrets he gathered in his seven years work with Charthouse, organizers of Ghana Music Awards – – reasons? Best known to him alone.

Resorting to his official Facebook page, he posted (unedited):

“I am a believer of hard work, I also believe you have worked very hard to get to where you are. That’s why I respected you. I am however bothered, when you try to deprive others of reaching their goals.

It was learning process working with your firm. Let me actually thank Mr. Philip Ayesu for that opportunity. During that period, I watched how you took advantage of your staff and watched for seven or eight years, how you schemed and took jobs from other companies with your dirty tactics. How you downplayed and used Ghanaian artistes and industry people to your advantage and to their detriment.

You never sowed any seed in this Ghanaian Industry but have cleverly reaped. You took advantage of Highlife/Hiplife, and for over a decade, built everything you owe on it. Some may say it’s a smart business move. And I have no qualms with seeing potential business and taking advantage. But spitting in one’s face afterwards? Not fair!

I am not against Charterhouse Music Awards (CMAs), but it’s nauseating, the fact that you feel it’s a favour for the musician rather than an enterprise. Okraku Mante, Abraham Ohene Djan, Fred Kyei Mensah, Goodies and Ageicoat, just to mention a few, have invested deeply in this industry for you to reap.

Rita Ora is only 24 but surely she has what it takes to take on Kim Kardashian, 34, in the fashion race—except that she does not have a big butt to give her that automatic ‘wow’ factor.

The musician was spotted last night wearing a Latex dress at Mert & Marcus House of Love party in celebration of Madonna, identical to the one Kim Kardashian was seen wearing a few hours earlier.
