Alfred Agbesi Woyome has been on the lips of every Ghanaian; after an Accra High Court acquitted the bussinessman of charges in the judgement debt case related to causing financial loss to the state. This was a development which I’m sure most Ghanaians weren’t pleased about, but it’s not actually surprising considering Woyome’s known political … Read more

Our Modern Love: The Modern Marriage

Love
Love

Our modern day love drives us into marriages built on wrong and weak premise – we’re selfishly getting rather than seeking to give (what people can do for us and what we can get from them), constantly commanding and demanding without being considerate, very intolerant and manipulating to get what we want from our spouse.

We’re chasing the cash and the material, our love flourishes because of benefits we get from relationships (and ends when the benefit ends). In short, things have gone haywire in our generation!

Years ago – when marriage had a reasonable meaning and enticing to go into, people didn’t need to profess love to one another with their mouth (at every opportunity and every second) to know they are loved – their persistence, support, respect they had for each other and working hard to make the marriage blissful (with all its challenges) was more than ‘unsaid I love you’. The modern marriage is built on dreams and expectations of the good life (not worked for) and enjoying the benefits. If their dreams don’t come into reality – they cry foul forgetting they need to work before they enjoy.

Now, marriage is more of a contract than a covenant. The modern day love is all hinged on convenience. We create our own heartbreaks through enormous expectations!

SHARE A THOUGHT: Should KKD Who is An Adjudicator On BET AWARD Board Be Relieved Of His Job Due to His Rape Case?

Kwesi Kyei Darkwah
Kwesi Kyei Darkwah

In case you never knew, Kwasi Kyei Darkwah popularly known as KKD, who was arrested on 27th December, 2014 due to a rape allegation leveled against him by a 19 year old girl, Ewuraffe Orleans Effe, is an ADJUDICATOR on the BET Awards in America.

KKD is the only Ghanaian contracted from Ghana to be on the BET Award’s adjudicator board. As an adjudicator on the board, he gives inputs when it comes to the selection, screening and nomination of African artists into the award scheme.

KKD has been on the BET Award right from the days Kojo Antwi, the first Ghanaian artist to have gotten a BET Award nomination, scored a nomination in 2010 – followed by D-Black in 2011, Sarkodie in 2012 (won it with Whiz Kid), R2Bees in 2013, and Sarkodie again in 2014.

His presence on the board is a pride not only to himself, family and friends, but Ghana as a country. Indeed, he is one of the adjudicators on the board who has been fighting for African acts/ winners who are given their awards/statutes off stage, be given on the stage.

Unfortunately, we woke up on 28th Dec, 2014 only to be banged in the face with the ball over – KKD The Finest, has been arrested a day before in connection with a rape allegation. Ever since, there have been many conspiracy theories from various quarters in connection with the case.

VIDEO + PHOTOS: Mariah Carey Performs at Human Rights Campaign Gala

Mariah Carey

Mariah Carey looked absolutely stunning performing at Human Rights Campaign Gala at the JW Marriott on Saturday (March 14) in Los Angeles, California.

Donning a beautiful black gown, the 44-year-old mother of twins performance at the event was to raise awareness against gays and lesbians human right abuse.

Sadly we can’t say anything positive about her performance of signature track ‘Hero’. It was a very poor performance from the 5-time grammy winner.

Time to SUPPORT As A Reader + Big Opportunity for Your Business | Sponsor GhanaCelebrities.Com’s 2015 Cannes Film Festival Coverage…

Cannes-Film-Festival-75
Chris-Vincent Agyapong Febiri (Editor, GhanaCelebrities.Com)

March 4, 2015

Hey Guys,

Two companies have already expressed interest in buying sponsorship package for GhanaCelebrities.Com’s coverage of this year’s Cannes Film Festival—and even though we are still talking, I am excited they’ve expressed interest in taking up some of the bills off our shoulders.

Also, one of my friends have donated 500 dollars already—and I have received messages from some appreciative readers asking if they can chip in individual donations aside the corporate sponsorship I am looking for. Of course, YES. Why Not?

Last year, my Cannes trip was partially financed by individual readers who love the work we do out here on the blog but this year, I decided to go in for corporate sponsorship as the budget is a little big but I didn’t think about merging corporate sponsorship and readers’ donations until I got an email this morning from a reader asking if she can chip in.

So for those readers who LOVE the crazy work we do on GhanaCelebrities.Com—ranging from the thought provoking articles to gossip, this is the time to show your damn appreciation. Stop being stingy and throw in some coins by clicking the donate button below…

update

For the 68th Cannes Film Festival, GhanaCelebrities.Com has been invited by the Press Office of the film festival—to attend the prestigious film festival this year again.

I am looking for a corporate sponsorship to the Cannes Film Festival 2015—and for this sponsorship, any article we will publish from Cannes during the festival period will mention the sponsor below it (Something like; this article is sponsored by blah blah—with a little info on the sponsor).

Why should anyone want to sponsor this?

Apart from the Cannes Film Festival being the biggest film festival in the world which means such a sponsorship and mention would bring you a lot of new people who would be searching to read about the festival —GhanaCelebrities.Com receives over 1.2 million pageviews a month, and mentioning you below all our Cannes related articles is the best publicity/advertisement deal you would ever have.

Mel Gibson, Jason Statham, Harrison Ford

Apart from GhanaCelebrities.Com, none of the known African websites/blogs cover the Cannes Film Festival directly each year (they all depend on western media for their reports)—and so, your business sponsorship or association with our first hand coverage which gets picked by countless blogs and websites would surely fetch you more than we anticipate.

Last year, we published about 46 articles on the Cannes Film Festival—most were exclusive content such as when I bumped into Kill Bill director- Quentin Tarantino and when I met the entire cast of Expendables 3 at their Press Photo Call; they came with a real war tank.

If you are interested in becoming a sponsor, let us know or email: [email protected] or call +447837576037…
