Jay-Z Launches Streaming Service ‘Tidal’: And He Had Many Superstars In Attendance

Jay-Z Launches Tidal

Jay-Z is probably the most accomplished rapper still alive, also a shoe-in for greatest rapper of all time discussions. Besides that, he is also an accomplished businessman, and his latest venture is certainly the mark of one.

Jay-Z yesterday launched his new music streaming company, called Tidal. It’s an offshoot of Swedish streaming service Aspiro, which he purchased last year. Jay-Z’s plan is to form a monster coalition with fellow artistes so they can control how their music is distributed.

And he had several colleagues in attendance at his launch. Aside his wife Beyonce, others in attendance included Daft Punk, Kanye West, Rihanna, Madonna, Nicki Minaj, Usher, and many others.

The intention is to take on other streaming giants, such as Spotify and Deezer. It’s absolutely a money thing, as the artistes have a problem with these services streaming their music for free and are planning this to take over that market with a paid service.

With the star power Jay has managed to assemble behind him though, it’s difficult to see how this venture would fail.
