MUST READ: Christ Died For Our Sins? | Why I Think That Sacrifice Is Not All It’s Trumped Up To Be

Jesus Christ
Jesus Christ

Tomorrow is Good Friday, so Christians the world over are getting ready to celebrate their re-salvation. It’s the commemoration of the death of Christ, the single most important event in a Christian’s life.

You see, apparently we were all born with sin; due to the original sin committed by our ancestors Adam and Eve. You might think at this point we’ve evolved to the point where we should be indistinguishable from that pair, if they ever did exist- to still be carrying their sin around our neck. But that’s just the way of the ever merciful but notoriously unforgiving Christian God.

So to forgive everyone, and remove that noose Adam’s original sin placed on everyone’s neck, God had to make the ultimate gesture.

So God sent Jesus Christ (God the Son)- who’s a part of God but also a distinct being- to die and redeem all of mankind. God put the stain of sin on man in the first place, but there had to be an elaborate, very gory public death to serve as atonement.

The problem, the sacrifice didn’t really sting, did it? By nature a sacrifice has to have real consequences, that’s why it’s called a sacrifice. In the Bible, God himself requested some really terrible sacrifices. Abraham was stopped at the last moment from killing his son, but the emotional scars from such an ordeal wouldn’t heal so easily. David and Batsheba’s first kid had to die, as did Jephthah’s daughter: that’s how you atone.

The Amount Of Bacteria On The Money You Carry Around Will Shock You!

Cedis
Cedis

Aside your mobile phone and your wallet, I struggle to think of anything you handle as many times in a day as you do money. Down here in Africa, at least; over 90% of transactions are completed using cold, hard, cash.

On some level we’re all probably aware that it’s not the cleanest substance, but that’s largely subconscious. After handling money no one does any stringent cleaning, such as you would after, for instance, visiting the loo.

A new study from the University of Surrey makes for grim reading though, and maybe we should be more careful after handling money. The study, reported in The Mirror, shows that currency retains a hell of a lot of bacteria, some of which could be disease causing organisms.

Students from the University of Surrey took the monies they had on them and submerged it in agar, a substance that allows bacteria to grow quickly.

GridCo Begs Cote D’Ivoire for Electricity Supply During Easter | What a Shame!

Electricity
Electricity

When a country like Ghana does not know how to make good use of its rich resources, begging is what it resorts to.

Over the years, one major problem the Ghana government has been facing is the inability to provide Ghanaians with constant electricity. There has not been a single day that Ghanaians do not complain bitterly about this unbearable situation, yet the government has failed to provide a solution.

The constant outcry and demonstrations by frustrated and angry Ghanaians have not even pushed the sitting government to do something about the situation.

Easter is just around the corner and it’s expected that power consumption will be high since a lot of people will engage in activities that will require them to use electricity.

Law & Celebrity: Eazzy’s Call For ‘Best Female Rapper’ Category in the VGMAs is Pure ‘Nonsense’ & Her Discrimination Argument is Fundamentally WEAK…

Eazzy
Eazzy

I wouldn’t want to call myself an expert in discrimination when it comes to the law or in general discussion—but I have written a lot about what amounts to discrimination (both legally and socially) to the extent that I can sense unfounded discrimination arguments miles away.

For some weeks now, Ghanaian rapper-Eazzy has taken on a campaign, arguing for the organisers of the annual Ghana Music Awards (now Vodafone Ghana Music Awards) to create a category called ‘Best Female Rapper’.

Everyone has the right to call for an inclusion of ‘whatever’ in life and I do not have a problem with this—however, I have a problem with Eazzy’s direction of argument and the unfounded grounds on which she seems to erect her campaign.

I listened to Eazzy mount her arguments on radio a few days ago —and today, she is in the news again with her campaign; arguing that,  the absence of ‘Best Female Rapper’ in the VGMAs amounts to some sort of pure gender discrimination.

Perhaps, it’s Eazzy’s understanding of what amounts to discrimination which is causing the confusion in her campaign. I find it extremely difficult to locate any element of ‘pure’ discrimination in the non-existent of such a category—for the simple fact that, there is nothing like ‘Best Male Rapper’ in the VGMAs too.

Of course gender is a protected characteristic under discrimination but for there to be any sort of discrimination, there must be a favourable treatment of one gender over the other—directly or indirectly.  If there was a category called ‘Best Male Rapper’ and there was nothing like ‘Best Female Rapper’, then Eazzy would have a sound argument in ‘pure’ discrimination.

Manny Pacquiao versus Floyd Mayweather is going to be all sorts of fireworks, undoubtedly the biggest fight since the heady days of boxing’s greatest- Mohammed Ali.

Now an infirm septuagenarian, Ali’s supposedly picked a side in this upcoming ‘rumble in the jungle’; and it’s not the side of the one generally considered the favourite.

His daughter, Rasheda, told TMZ

“My dad is team Pacquiao all the way! My dad really likes Manny. He’s a huge fan of his.

He knows Manny’s a great fighter … but it’s more about what he does outside the ring. He’s such a charitable person.”
