Everything bad you can say about religion can be found in this short headline. Religion as a divisive force, as a source of indoctrinated bigotry, one more point of division in a world already chock full of them.

Two Muslim youths in Pakistan assaulted a 14 year old boy, poured kerosene on him, and then set him ablaze. His only crime was that he was a Christian, and the Muslims were looking for revenge.

MailOnline reports the 14 year old Nuaman encountered the Muslims as they were returning from Friday prayers. They asked him what his religion was, and when he said Christian, they started beating him.

They assaulted him, and then set him ablaze. He managed to escape and douse himself in a mound of sand, before some members of the community helped get him to hospital.

He’s currently receiving treatment for his burns at Mayo Hospital in Lahore. The attacks are believed to be in retaliation for attacks by Christians on two members of the Pakistani Taliban; also in retaliation for those Taliban members bombing a Christian church.

You can see the pattern, Muslims attack Christians and then Christians attack Muslims and it goes on and on and on.

This sounds more like a Mafia feud, and the fact that religions are indulging tells us they aren’t much better than old feuding Italian families. As humans we have countless points of divisions, and religion is one more that we frankly do not need.
