90% of Alcoholic Drinks Advertised in Ghana Suggest That They Give S*xual Stamina to Men – But The Liquor Licensing Act 1970 (Act 331) Says ‘Advertisements Should Neither Claim Nor Suggest That Any Alcoholic Drink Can Contribute Towards S*xual Success Or Can Enhance S*xual Attractiveness’

A month ago, authorities at Ghana Standard Board were in the news – asking celebrities not to allow themselves to be used for advertising alcoholic drinks or beverages because those celebs have huge followers who could be deluded into alcoholism.

So I took my time to research on the Act they claim debars celebrities from being used to advertise alcoholic drinks – this is my shock: “No advertisement should suggest that drinking is an essential attribute of masculinity or advertisements should neither claim nor suggest that any alcoholic drink can contribute towards sexual success or can enhance sexual attractiveness.”

Read the provisions of the Liquor Licensing Act 1970 (Act 331) of Ghana:

(a) Advertising of alcoholic drinks should not be directed at persons under 18 years in contravention of the Liquor Licensing Act 1970 (Act 331). Presentation of advertisements on alcoholic drinks likely to be of particular appeal to children should be avoided. (b) Children should not be seen or heard in an advertisement for alcoholic drinks.

(c) In advertisements for drinks containing alcohol anyone associated with drinking should be or appear to be at least 18 years old.

The PARTICULAR ACT the Ghana Standard Board applied in telling the celebrities, especially Kwame Dzokoto, to stop advertising alcohol is below; (d) Advertisements for alcoholic drinks should not feature any personality whose example persons under 18 years are likely to emulate or who has a particular appeal to persons under that age.

It’s the series of the moment; HBO Game of Thrones returned from hiatus last week, and people had missed it so much they couldn’t wait to watch it- leading to the leak of the first four episodes.

Obesity and Rap Music | What’s the Correlation?

Fat Joe
Fat Joe

Obesity is a term most people are familiar with whether on television, in school or anywhere. Most of us know the adverse effects of obesity so my intention is not to draw your attention to the risks involved. I am writing about obesity and hip hop or rap music. What is the correlation?

I believe among all the genres in the world, hip hop has been the most accommodating in terms of obesity since its inception in the early 70’s. Hip hop has always been that genre that promotes subtly an undisciplined lifestyle; once you have the women, the swag, the money or at least rap about the money you don’t have or you seem to promote vice, people will love you. I am a huge fan of rap music regardless, an ardent follower at that.

Since the early to mid-nineties, there has been an attempt (whether intentional or not) to make room for an obese rapper in the industry in every generation. It started with the introduction of Christopher Wallace popularly known as Notorious BIG aka Biggie Smalls.

Accra Hearts of Oak Continues to Dazzle in Africa: Beats Djoliba 2-1 In Mali

Hearts of Oak
Hearts of Oak

Accra Hearts of Oak are cobbling together an amazing continental cup run that’s defying all expectations placed upon this team.

Hearts have been poor domestically, languishing in the bottom rungs of the league log. In Africa, though, they continue to remain the toast of all Ghanaians.

Hearts beat Mali’s Djoliba 2-1 in Bamako yesterday to take a giant step towards entering the money zone of the competition. This was despite a red card to skipper Robin Gnagne that should have had a heavy toll on the team.

Playing away in Africa is not the easiest thing, but Hearts have now won their last two. In-form Gilbert Fiamenyo put them ahead in the 55th minute, calmly controlling an aerial pass from October to slot into an empty net.

WTF
WTF

Can’t believe that this supposed Christians and Muslims who are fine breaking the law couldn’t maintain détente long enough to get to their destination.

Thousands make the illegal and perilous boat trip from Libya to Italy every year, desperate to get to Europe and make a new life there. The trip, often in overcrowded boats, is dangerous enough without the migrants turning on each other.

But that’s what happened on a recent trip, according to CNN. Italian Police intercepted one of the boats at sea in Sicily, Palermo. They were transferred to an Italian navy vessel- where investigations showed that 12 of the original 105 people who made the trip did not survive.

The 12, believed to be Christians from Ghana and Nigeria were thrown overboard by their fellow travellers; Muslims from Mali, Senegal, and the Ivory Coast.
