Times move on, things change, and every new generation have their signature. For this social media generation it’s the selfie.

No one quite knows how it began, but it has become almost a facet of people daily lives. Now research is showing that this obsession with selfies might be causing more harm than good.

Research carried out by OnePoll has shown that women, on average, take and delete five photos before finding one they’re comfortable enough to post online. The research also found that for men, the magic number is four, as reported by MailOnline.

64% of women also felt anxious just by the action of having a camera on them. 41% of women also conceded that just looking at pictures of others online made them feel bad about themselves.

This was not limited to adults- the survey also discovered 15% of women and 19% of men edited pictures of their children before posting it online.

Confidence and self esteem issues, seems an inevitable by-product of having your image in the public domain to be dissected by friends and strangers alike. The survey is intended to get people to post the first selfie they take online, comments be damned.

Now, can we find out how many Kim Kardashian takes before posting one online?
