PHOTOS: What is Barcelona Without Paella & A Jar of Sangria? | From ‘Plaza de Catalunya’ to the Beach

Visiting Spain without eating Paella is like visiting Ghana without trying Waakye or Kenkey—or visiting Nigeria without sweating over pepper soup.

The first time I had Paella was when I visited Malaga and Marbella about two years ago and since then, it has always been on my mind. A friend told me about several restaurants in London which have Paella on their menu but why would I want to buy Paella from an Indian married to a Chinese and living in London?

Even if it looks like Paella, I doubt it would taste like the one that stole my tongue in Spain. So I had to wait—and from the time I jumped on the plane to Barcelona, it has been Paella on my mind.

Since I am out here on a budget, even if I wish to have Paella and a jar of Sangria for lunch each day, that wouldn’t be possible…

Ghana Black Meteors To Meet Liberia In Olympic Qualifier On Saturday

The Black Meteors of Ghana, Ghana’s U-23 senior national team, would this weekend begin the long torturous road to qualification for the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Olympics with a home qualifier against the Liberian Olympic team.

The Meteors have already booked their place at the All African Games, but would need to navigate several qualifiers if they are to make the trip to the Brazil Olympics.

Adom FM’s morning show presenter-Captain Smart is back in the news and this time it’s not for swindling multiple women abroad, aided by his Pentecostal mother—rather, Captain Smart is said to be seriously chopping down a certain Afia Pokuaa, the wife of a Ghanaian based in Belgium.

For some weird reason, Captain Smart seems to be disgustingly obsessed with Ghanaian women abroad who quickly fall for his sharp tongue—and what is alleged as his “cunning ways”.

A few months ago, Captain Smart made headlines when multiple Ghanaian women abroad spoke to GhanaCelebrities.Com, all claiming that the radio presenter has fraudulently taken several items and monies from them in some sort of unhealthy relationships they had with him.

These women who are based in Europe stated at the time that, Captain Smart usually hit them up on facebook or through a common friend and soon after they started talking, he promised them the whole world—-more importantly, marriage. He then rolled in his common cunning pattern; introduced them to his mother who somewhat is part of the scam.

From there, these women allegedly sent money and several items to Captain Smart and his mother—and most of them even flew to Ghana to spend sometime with Smart and his family, thinking marriage or some worthy relationship is on the way.

For many Brits, Little Mix (formerly known as Rhythmix) which is an English girl group formed in 2011, consisting of members-Jade Thirlwall, Perrie Edwards, Leigh-Anne Pinnock (above) and Jesy Nelson is a female version of One Direction—or at least in the making.

Leigh-Anne Pinnock, 23, of the all girls group was photographed yesterday posing up a storm on a tropical beach—and she was looking banging hot.

In the photo, the singer is seen feeling good while wearing a day-glow, lime green bikini as she bathed in the ocean.

Nigerian Advocacy Group SERAP Calls On The International Criminal Court To Investigate Xenophobic Attacks

The current despicable, cowardly, and uncivilized attacks by South Africans on other African nationals have served to put into sharp focus our refusal to grow as black people.

Whilst the rest of the world tries to move on, Africa continues to remain mired in behaviour not fitting for the 20th century, let alone this current globalised 21st century.

The South African government’s response to the crisis has left a whole lot to be desired as well, with slow response time and an initial reluctance to condemn the violence leaving people with the (valid) impression that they implicitly support the attacks.

Nigeria has had several nationals attacked in the violence, and a Nigerian advocacy group the Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project (SERAP) have taken some proactive action, dragging South Africa to the International Criminal Court.

Researchers in the US working on a ‘cure’ for Ebola have made a breakthrough, with their work leading to the cure of monkeys who were initially infected with the virus.

Their work centred on the Makona strain, which caused the current outbreak in West Africa.

In what must be a pathetic attempt to stay relevant as their power wades, Boko Haram pledged its allegiance to ISIS a while back. That transition is now official.

The Nigerian group released pictures yesterday announcing the change. It features their fighters brandishing assault rifles whilst posing in front of the dreaded ISIS flag.

It also announced their name change- as henceforth they prefer to be known as ‘Wiyalat al Sudan al Gharbi’. The translation to English reads as ‘The West African Province of the Islamic State’.

Former Assembly Member Shoots Cousins for Calling His Mother ‘A Witch’

A former Assembly Member of the Dipa Electoral Area in Bimbilla in the Northern Region, Ndoyela Magmaze Orbert, is in the grips of police for shooting his cousins.

According to The Mirror’s publication, the former Assembly Member claims his mother has been branded a witch by his three cousins. This, which did not go down well with Ndoyela, led him to bring out a single barrel gun from his room and shot his cousins – killing two and injuring one.

“The incident happened at Bimbilla on January 15, 2014 but Orbert, who has been in police custody ever since after many appearances before a magistrate court, has now been charged with murder by the law office for the case to be transferred to a High Court in Tamale for trial to begin”, the newspaper reports.
