They say they’re the Islamic State In West Africa now but at the rate the Nigeria army is hunting them down these days there might not be anything left of them very soon.

One of their main means of terror is capturing towns and carting off their women and children into captivity. These women are used in all sorts of degrading means, as forced spouses who are raped continuously by their captors, just general sex and labour slaves, and as suicide bombers.

The most heard about are the Chibok girls, the incident were over 200 girls were captured from a school by Boko Haram. They might be the most famous, but there are several other groups of ladies who have fallen to the same fate.

It’s one of these groups that the Nigerian army say they’ve liberated now. According to the BBC, the Nigerian military announced they’ve rescued 200 girls and 93 women from the clutches of the terrorist organisation.

In a major battle in the Sambisa forest, the military seized four Boko Haram camps, caches of weapons, and the women and girls.

It’s not immediately clear what towns these ladies were abducted from, but they are believed not to have been the ones captured from Chibok. So a little bit of good news, but there’s much more to be done if these radical terrorists are to be completely rooted out.
