The presidential race for the Republican Party for election 2016 is becoming a very crowded place. Perhaps they feel after 8 years of Obama America is ripe for a change.
Somewhat uncharacteristically, the very conservative party is having a very diverse field of candidates. Joining that field now are the first woman and African-American candidate to seek the GOP nomination for next year’s election.
Carly Fiorina is a former Chief Executive of Hewlett-Packard, and ran a failed Senate bid in 2010. The 60 year old seems to be positioning herself as the logical challenger to Hilary Clinton, the frontrunner for the Democratic nomination.
Another person to announce their candidacy is Ben Carson, beloved neurosurgeon. His rags to riches story is one that inspires, but so far he’s proven to be a very average politician- getting into trouble with some of his more controversial, conservative views.
He made the announcement in his home city of Detroit, at Detroit Music Hall, with a choral version of Detroit’s biggest music export, Eminem’s ‘Lose Yourself’ playing in the background.
These two join Ted Cruz, Rand Paul, and Marco Rubio as confirmed Republican candidates. One person expected to join the race but who’s yet to announce is Florida Governor Jeb Bush.
