‘On the Run’ Says Yvonne Nelson & Co Cannot Use their Premise for #DumsorMustStop Vigil After University of Ghana Also Said No…Sabotage from Above or What?

Dumsor

This is indeed Ghana—where Yvonne Nelson and the others are looking to stage a protest against the ruling government over the current power crisis dubbed #DumsorMustStop vigil and despite everyone in the capital suffering under the hardship, they cannot even find a venue.

Earlier today, Yvonne Nelson and her other celebrity friends who are leading the campaign were forced to change the venue from University of Ghana, Legon  to the nearby ‘On the Run’ because the authorities of the University said they wouldn’t allow them to use their premises for the vigil. The authorities stated that, they were not contacted and did not agree for their premises to be used before Yvonne Nelson and others put it out there as the venue.

Less than 12 hours after the above compelled the organisers of the #DumsorMustStop vigil to move the meeting ground to ‘On the Run’, the owners of the place-Total Ghana have also come to say, they have not agreed for their premise to be used—and as such, they wouldn’t allow the vigil to take place there.

HIV-AIDS Fraudster-Joyce Dzidzor Mensah Slams Yvonne Nelson, Sarkodie & Others for Dumsor Campaign | She Says Enough is Enough & Ghanaians Can’t Attack President Mahama Because Dumsor Was Created By President Kuffour Long Ago

Joyce Dzidzor Nartey
Joyce Dzidzor Nartey

I don’t get the dabate on the origin of Dumsor and it relavance to what is happening in Ghana today. It could be that I am totally stupid or those placing these arguments clouded by political judgement are not making any sense.

So the fact that ‘Dumsor’ started or became relevant during NPP’s President Kuffour’s administration means that, a new president who came to power by promising that he would fixed the power crisis should be left alone—and the logic is, he did not create Dumsor or it did not start under his governance.

This is inherently stupid yet you find so many Ghanaians saying this—all because they belong to a particular political party which came into power on the legs that it will fix the problem and today, it hasn’t been able to do so with the problem becoming worse.

Can’t we just for once take our blind political goggles off and see national crisis such as Dumsor for what it is? In fact, some of us are tired talking about this—because, at this stage, we shouldn’t even be hearing such lame arguments.

‘Don’ try this at home’, they put on the screen every few minutes you’re watching professional wrestling. ‘Especially using toddlers as your opponents’, you would think that should go without saying.

Brandon Hoffman, from Jersey Shore, broke this cardinal rule and that has led to the tragic death of a child and left him in police clutches.

According to MailOnline, he was babysitting the 18 month old Bryson Shoemaker, son of his girlfriend Sierra Shoemaker, who was working at the time; when he somehow decided that using the child for wrestling moves was a good idea.

No matter the fancy name you give to it, all bleaching be bleaching.

We have this unfortunate trend in Africa now where people are not content with their natural dark colour, so they use creams and other methods to look like the white people they claim not to like.

Even some of our celebrities are not exempt from this. Anyway, over in Cote d’Ivoire they are doing something about this trend. According to a report on the BBC, their health ministry have banned skin whitening creams due to health concerns.

Labour Leader, UKIP Leader & Lib Dem’s Leader Have All Resign Over Poor Electoral Performance | In Ghana, the Cat Won’t Even Resign Over the Missing Meat…

Labour, Lib Dem and UKIP leaders resign
Labour, Lib Dem and UKIP leaders resign

A few weeks ago, I was on JOY Fm with a panel of others to discuss the lack of resignation culture in Ghana, especially in our political-sphere—and after recognising that as a people we don’t even care about the righteousness to resign when we fail, I added that the masses do not also pressure our leaders enough to resign in the face of incompetence (Listen to that discussion on JOY FM from Here If You Missed It)

No one resigns in Ghana—neither do incompetent politicians get sacked for the obvious mismanagement and corruption. Since no one is resigning and no one is being fired, we are stuck with rotten politicians who take everyone and everything including their own dignity for granted, perpetuating gross incompetence…

No one in this world wants to be held accountable, except the only few who have that rare conscience which dictates that, they ought to act according to promises or expectations—and when they fail those who place their hopes in them, they ought to cut their own legs by resigning. At least, that is the least they can do to show remorse and indicate that, they are sorry for the poor performance.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m a mindless critic of the president JDM, and I understand that there are alternative sources of energy, but do you think that if it was that easy to fix the power crisis, the president would not saved himself the blames and constant harassment?

President John Mahama is Feeling the HEAT | He Tweets to Ghanaian Celebrities Saying ‘Let’s End the Polemics’

President-John Mahama
President-John Mahama

The official President John Dramani Mahama’s twitter page has tweeted, and the message is pretty clear—the smoke coming out of the kitchen is worrying.

The social media Dumsor campaign has intensified, though, it has somewhat become an opportunity to insult and be mischievous for some people.

Being offensive or unleashing attacks in every campaign is not forbidden but such actions mostly taint the campaign so in a tweet, the president wrote; “The division in our politics is bad enough. Let it not spread to our creative industry. Let’s cease the polemics. — JM”

In effect, the president is not asking for the activism in the Creative Arts Industry to stop, he is only saying, the manner and shape in which this activism is taking place must be re-considered.

For a few days now, Ghanaians are making good use of social media, sending all manner of messages and discussing the unbearable power crisis they find themselves in—made worse by the government’s inability to honour his promise of finding a fix.

Police Grant Permission For #DumsorMustStop Vigil To Go Ahead: But University Of Ghana Say They Have Not Approved Use Of Their Premises For Any Vigil

Dumsor

Yvonne Nelson kicked off a whole hornet’s nest when she decided one day to start her campaign against the power crisis that’s killing us in this country.

Since then we have seen insults from uncivilised politicians and supporters of the NDC, plus even more ignorant comments from some celebrities. Yet the vigil was not even officially approved yet.

They received that approval yesterday, after meeting with the Greater Accra Regional Police Command. They granted approval for the vigil, slated for 16th of May, ostensibly for the University of Ghana premises.

Well, the management of the University disagrees. In a public statement, they have asked to be disassociated from any planned vigil. This is because, as at now, they haven’t officially received any request for, not to talk about giving approval, for any vigil to be held on their campus.
