This is indeed Ghana—where Yvonne Nelson and the others are looking to stage a protest against the ruling government over the current power crisis dubbed #DumsorMustStop vigil and despite everyone in the capital suffering under the hardship, they cannot even find a venue.
Earlier today, Yvonne Nelson and her other celebrity friends who are leading the campaign were forced to change the venue from University of Ghana, Legon to the nearby ‘On the Run’ because the authorities of the University said they wouldn’t allow them to use their premises for the vigil. The authorities stated that, they were not contacted and did not agree for their premises to be used before Yvonne Nelson and others put it out there as the venue.
Less than 12 hours after the above compelled the organisers of the #DumsorMustStop vigil to move the meeting ground to ‘On the Run’, the owners of the place-Total Ghana have also come to say, they have not agreed for their premise to be used—and as such, they wouldn’t allow the vigil to take place there.
Is it not interesting that Yvonne Nelson and the other cannot even find a common location for this important campaign?
The only place we can think of is Obra Spot which is a popular ground for protest—but it’s very much aligned with the NPP so we don’t think Yvonne Nelson will go for that place as she doesn’t want the campaign to be clothed in politics.
What do you have to say about the fact that location as even become a problem for such an important campaign? Sabotage from above or what?
Yvonne is not serious. How do you announce venues for a serious demonstration such as this one without appropriate clearance from the property owners first? its almost as if this is a joke to her. I have heard a lot of ppl say she is using this dumsor thing to her own advantage to get more popularity especially since she has always suffered bad press and this is her chance to break free from that nasty image. obviously she is clearly making this up as she goes along.
How can u send an open invitation to hundreds of people for a demo and yet u don’t have the sense to obtain proper authorization from 2 different venues where those ppl will converge? She just wants attention….another opportunist just like the govt!

OF ALL THE NUMEROUS DUMSOR COMPLAINS WHO HAVE MANNED UP TO STEP FOWARD TO PROTEST AGAINST IT.

I doubt she will demonstrate at such places without seeking their permit. What I do believe is someone probably promised and disappointed her. But hey all is not lost. I believe she will def. find a good spot. I find your last statement a bit unnecessary though!!!
There’s always that someone who won’t be supportive. U.G. and On the Run are so wrong for this. They could have pardon her & her friends and allowed the place to be used. Y.N. it shall be well with you and everyone who believes there’s a need for this campaign.
Will it be fair for university of GHANA or on the run to hold an event on Yvonne’s compound without informing her? Even to announce it without her consent is not correct. But Yvonne was in such a hurry to gain your admiration for the wrong reasons. She was echoing your voices because it was most strategic and advantageous to her.
You are all exhibiting the sympathy she was banking on. Her stunt has been marvelously crafted. Oh, except of course the important detail of where the heck to take you guys on D day. You don’t find that very strange? Shouldn’t that have been her topmost priority? I excused the university one but my eyes opened after on the run. Yvonne is shouting about the govt lying to us, giving us false hope etc etc. isn’t it the same thing she is doing to the ppl now sitting at home not even knowing where the venue is after two false announcements?
The lesson here is tht problems can go deeper than anticipated. It is no excuse but it can happen. Yvonne can’t even secure a simple venue so she has mislead hundreds of people. Nobody is sabotaging her, She has just exposed herself. no property owner will want to take liability for hundreds of people imposed on them without their consent!

She is trending and looking for endorsements deals because of your sympathy, meanwhile she doesn’t even know which venue she is taking you and you still can’t see she is using you. How sick and desperate can u be in your career to use a crisis that ppl want hope for to ur advantage….authorization is key to the success of every demonstration. If she was genuine she would have done the right thing. She is the most popular person in GH today for a demonstration which we have made her popular for meanwhile she doesn’t even know where she is taking us on two separate occasion. Am waiting for her to invite us all to her house as the new venue. Nonsense!
Chris you posted this. At least well meaning Ghanaians who are not necessarily frontiers of any party may come to her aid. I do not wish to discuss the details of the unsecured announced locations. It’s typical NDC style to forcefully inject negative politics into an activity, once there is any fear of loss to them. So they’d push you till you are desperate and accept support from anywhere. Then the same group would conveniently drum in their propaganda that you had the backing of the opposition.
The NDC is also feverishly digging up dirt on you NY. The Virgil may not be the end of this. Be warned. Hope you are strong enough to deal with this. Am just shocked at a fabrication that I just heard about you.
People shy away from advocacy because of some of these damning vindictive Ghanaian intimidation, turn people timid.

Please YN if you are reading this, please seek the police permit and take it to the streets of Accra if you are not being permitted to use certain locations. I hope and pray you are strong enough to stand all the criticism and hatred coming towards you. It really sad that some Ghanaians don’t value what you are doing? I bet one day they will thank you for doing this. Stay strong and don’t give up. My dear it is not that we dont value what Yvonne is doing. The problem is some of us have noticed how much effort she put into having photoshoots with police for Instagram and running her mouth as supposed to proper planning and appropriate permission for the location where she has invited hundreds of us to have a demo. Shd more care not be put in the safety of the ppl following you? How on earth can u say ppl shd come with open fires ( lanterns, candles, bobo etc) to on the run. Why won’t the management throw you out. This is not sabotage or politics matter. It’s a fuel station for goodness sake! It’s bad enough u didn’t ask for permission but can she take responsibility for the lives of participants if something goes wrong? eish!

It doesn’t take a genius to know that you need to have permission before you can host an event at a desired location. That’s the first thing you do before you make announcements.
I do firmly believe she did seek permission from the authorities. Maybe a not so higher person authorised the permit or lied to her that all is sorted and she believed it and went ahead with the announcement. I mean if she didn’t seek permit from Legon authorities and was dismissed from using the premise, would she be that stupid to claim another location without their permit again? Come on guys, something isn’t right and am hoping for the day the truth will come out, so we can all shut the hell up. Let’s not be too quick to judge people. There might be more to the story than what we read on the internet. The fact that she hasn’t said anything concerning this issue doesn’t mean she is guilty as some of you thinks of her.
