‘Dumsor’ Again? | Generator Fumes Kill Lovers in Kukurantumi

This is the third time we are reporting something like this—generator fumes killing people (especially lovers) in Ghana, all because of ‘dumsor’.

It’s sad that people continue to die this way but the question remains; why don’t we seem to learn? Perhaps, the new causalities do not hear of the death of others and as such they go ahead to repeat the same mistake.

Putting a running generator in your bedroom overnight to sleep should never be entertained—you should not even sleep near the reach of the fumes. But because of fear of thievery, many Ghanaians treat their generators as children, sleeping next to them which continues to kill them.

According to StarrFm; “a UK-based Ghanaian, Kwadwo Adom, and his girlfriend have been found dead at Kukurantumi in the Eastern region. The two are believed to have died from inhalation of carbon-monoxide fumes from a generator they were using in their room during a power cut in the area Thursday.

Starr News’ Eastern regional correspondent Kojo Ansah reports the lovers were discovered dead in their room by some artisans working on a new housing project for them. One of the artisans who spoke to Ansah said they were compelled to break into the room of the deceased after their numerous knock at their door went unanswered.

The bodies have reportedly been deposited at the Police Hospital in Accra.”

Dumsor is just not causing social and economic hardship, it’s also killing people…
