What at all will move a woman to steal another woman’s baby? Is it because she cannot bear a child herself or what? Maybe the women can help us with these questions.

The Tarkwa Circuit court has sentenced a 28 year old woman to three years imprisonment with hard labour. The woman (Faustina Arthur), who has two kids already, said she admired the baby that was why she stole her.

According to Police Chief Inspector Oscar Amponsah Charity Owusu Ansah (complainant), is a seamstress apprentice at Wasa Akropong and the accused, a resident of Adukwa near Wasa Appiah Nkwanta.

Police Chief Inspector Oscar Amponsah told the court presided over by Mr. Justice Obeng Asante that Charity left her baby with one Simon Addo when she visited her husband in his store at Wasa Akropong Township. She did so to enable her quickly rush to the market to purchase some items.

The accused, Faustina, voluntarily asked to take care of the baby; therefore took the baby from Simon. After the mother of the baby returned from the market, Faustina was nowhere to be found. She had run away with the 3-month-old baby.

The mother then made an official report to the Wasa Akropong police but the Police could not trace the accused.

Chief Inspector Amponsah said on May 5, Police extended the investigation to Adukwa Town and found the three-months-old baby with the accused and she was arrested
