Former Hearts Coach Sir Cecil Jones Attuquayefio Dies at 70

Former Hearts coach Sir Cecil Jones Attuquayefio has tragically passed on after battling illness for the past few years.

The 70 year old, often described as the only ‘Sir’ in Ghana football, was coach of Accra Hearts of Oak during the most dominant period in the club’s history. He led Hearts to the 2001 African Champions League, leading the most deadly team this shores has ever seen.

Before that he played as a defender, turning out for Accra Great Olympics and the Black Stars in the 60’s and 70’s.

Attuquayefio also led Hearts to 3 league titles, as well as the 2004 CAF Confederations Cup.

One of the most decorated coaches this country has ever seen. May his soul rest in perfect peace.
