A few countries in the world, most famously The Netherlands, have already taken this step. Some states of the US also allow for the medicinal use of marijuana.
It’s a constant lobbying battle, and Morgan Freeman has added his voice. The veteran actor has called for the across board legalisation of the drug he takes for pain relief, according to the BBC.
“It has many useful uses. I have fibromyalgia pain in this arm, and the only thing that offers any relief is marijuana”
Freeman was in a car crash in 2008, which required four hours of surgery to repair the nerves in his arm. He still hasn’t regained full use of his left hand, and is in constant pain which weed helps subside.
“They’re talking about kids who have grand mal seizures, and they’ve discovered that marijuana eases that down to where these children can have a life.
That right there, to me, says legalise it across the board.”
This is what the enlightened looks like. Applying common sense. Many painkillers have some opiates in them. Marijuana is the most natural way to go for many of the ailments like pain. Peter Tosh was not wrong when he listed the ailments that can be cured by weed. But in Ghana, that bastion of enlightenment and knowledge on a hill, a man like Morgan Freedman will go to jail for smoking week. And Afriyie Ankrah, Woyome and the rest of the criminal class from both sides of the political spectrum will still be farting around in their air conditioned cars. That in a nutshell captures the “bizarro” world of Ghana.
