The Sachet and Packaged Water Producers Association, the umbrella body for sachet water producers, have announced that from June this year, the prices of sachet water is set to go up.

They cite the irregular power supply which has increased production costs, and the recent increment of fuel prices as the factors driving this increase.

So as the economy goes from bad to worse, basic products are running away from the ability of the ordinary consumer to procure.

Dumsor ripples throughout all facets of the economy, and the blame squarely lies at the feet of government, who have watched the crisis go from bad to worse year after year, and shown no inclination to take a break from the corruption to try fixing it.

Think about it, in a few days time when we enter the month of June, the 50p coin cannot even get you two sachets of ‘pure water’. Let’s all ponder about that.
