It hurts that our people cannot see through the thick cloud of nonsense—all because of religion. And this is actually killing many of us as if we are some chickens.

When it happened, we did the usual; called that people should ‘pray for Ghana’ and they went on our knees to pray.
Since then and before then, Accra continues to flood and instead of knowing that this damn prayer does not work and so we have to get up and fix the problem, we continue to pray to this same God who we have prayed to for over 25 years but He allows us to die in the same flood!
Until we change our ways and thinking, nothing will! And you want to tell me these people are not flat stupid?
Over 25 years of doing the same thing with no result and you won’t change it? Some black people are black for a reason.
Yesterday, some Ghanaians backed by celebrities took to social media to launch another ‘pray for Accra’ flood campaign—and because of this stupidity, next year, the flood will come and kill us again—I bet!
I am waiting for that one smart person who will launch ‘build Accra gutters or clean Accra gutters campaign’ instead of calling for prayers which have failed us for the many years we’ve relied on it.
Chris, I believe that prayers have not failed us but rather our leaders. When you pray, God answers and gives wisdom to men to use in solving whatever problem that is at hand. What I am surprised about is former president Rawlings barking about this situation when he did not do anything during his presidency to fix the problem. After all he was the president when the article was published. I strongly believe that the likes of the Rawlings, Kuffour, Mills and Mahama have failed us miserably. The current mayor of Accra lived most of his life in Chicago so what ideas has he implemented in Accra from his years of living in Chicago? Most of our leaders lived outside the country or they have traveled outside so they’ve seen developments outside. the question becomes why can’t they implement some of the GOOD things they enjoy whenever they travel to the likes of US, UK, Canada etc.? Our leaders are taking advantage all because of the timidity nature of our people. As for the so called celebrities-I see them as hungry people looking to be fed by these politicians. On the continent of Africa, from top to bottom all are SELFISH!! our mindset has become just ourselves.
