Actress-Yvonne Nelson premiered her latest self-produced movie-‘If Tomorrow Never Comes’ in Accra on Friday and the attendance was really disappointing, which many have blamed it on the flood and bad weather. The two are rumoured to be going out now but Leo doesn’t seem ready to put up with outright fabrications from the press.
Reports indicate the legendary actor is suing French magazine Oops! For their May 28 cover story, which claims DiCaprio got Rihanna pregnant and is refusing to acknowledge the baby as his. He’s suing for $20,000.
“Leonardo DiCaprio may be dating Rihanna, and he’s most likely even banging Rihanna — but he absolutely did not get her pregnant … according to a lawsuit he’s filed against a French magazine.
Leo filed the suit against Oops! for its May 28 cover story … which declares that Leo knocked up RiRi, and will not recognize the baby as his. In the docs, Leo’s lawyer calls the story “pure fantasy.”
It’s pretty much a foregone conclusion that these people are madmen but they just find new degrees to take it to every damn day. The Islamic State has passed a new law, outlawing the breeding of Pigeons in their territories. According to them, the sight of the bird’s genitals as they fly overhead is anti-Islamic, … Read more
Dr.Papa Kwesi Nduom took to his facebook to write the below—and it’s a must read. He asks so many important questions, which we know we wouldn’t get any reasonable answers to them from the incumbent government.
All the same, this is a good piece…

The big question is, why did the President of the Republic of Ghana, John Dramani Mahama cut sod in January 2013 for the Accra project aimed at finding an effective solution to the perennial flooding problem at the nation’s capital?
On an Accra radio station yesterday, the Minister of Finance Seth Terkper confirmed that government has not received even one pesewa of the funds needed to implement this important project.
So, once again, why did President Mahama cut sod for a project there were no funds for with great fanfare? What was the purpose of the sod cutting? Should it take deaths and loss of property for our government to inform the people about the status of such an important project? Where is the sense of urgency? Who advised the President that the ceremony should come on?

Hans Adu Sarpei who played for Ghana’s national team and was part of Ghana’s squad for the 2006 and the 2010 FIFA World Cup as well as the 2006 and the 2010 African Cup of Nations has won Germany’s Let’s Dance” 2015 competition after an electrifying performance…
According to German website RTL, It was a thrilling finale and after nine tense dances, critical jury judgements and long minutes of trembling stands, Hans Sarpei secured together with professional dancer Kathrin Menzinger the title “Dancing Star” at the “Let’s Dance” 2015 competition.
The website adds that “in second place was Minh Khai Phan-Thi and professional dancer Massimo Sinato whilst Matthias Steiner and professional dancer Ekaterina Leonova took third place.”
I’ve always maintained the position that Ghana is a very dirty country, perhaps being on top of the imaginary list of Africa’s Dirtiest Countries I’ve created; and every right thinking Ghanaian or non-Ghanaian resident will attest to this statement even though it does not put the country in a positive light.
From the numerous streets to the homes (including bedrooms) of many Ghanaians, the most visible thing one is sure to come across is heaps of garbage. It’s so ill-fated that most Ghanaians do not realize how such filth can cause real teething troubles. A clear example is the massive June 3rd flood that caused the death of several innocent and guilty Ghanaians.
Even before the deluge, several individuals had lost their precious lives through cholera, a malady that has totally lost standing in some countries. In my recent photo report, I was dumbfounded to have come across waste materials comfortably seeking shelter in open gutters. Interestingly, these gutters were either behind the homes or eateries of people who count themselves among human beings. Even though such ‘borla’ in the city is visible everywhere in the country, no measures have been put in place to do away with it.
The only question that comes to mind is; whose responsibility is it to keep Ghana clean?

As it’s rightly said, how civilized a society is can be determined by looking at how it treats its minorities—and in Ghana, from how we treat gays to the disabled, we sure have a great deal of conscience…
Despite the Ghana Society of the Physically Disabled (GSPD) having already sued three domestic airlines-Antrak Air, Starbow Airlines and Africa World Airlines for discriminating against persons with disabilities by way of refusing to sell flight tickets to them, these airlines continue to this, unchallenged by the appropriate authorities.
GSPD has also sued the Ghana Civil Aviation Authority to force them to take charge of supervising these airlines in connection with how they treat disabled persons—and ensure strict compliance with Section 28 (1) of the Persons with Disability Act, 2006.
Beyond my recent article titled “The Greatest Irony: Africa’s Best Mayor’s City Flooded Again | Killing Over 150 People”, the fact that the Accra Metropolitan Chief Executive, Alfred Oko Vanderpuije (Mayor of Accra) is still in position after last week’s flood which killed over 200 people and that of the previous years is a strong confirmation that we are addicted to incompetence.
Truly, our leaders have no conscience to even resign if they totally fail us…
In my submission during the discussion, I said that “by default no one would resign even if that person is grossly incompetent but in other societies, people resign because of either a hovering tendency of being FIRED or excessive pressure from the masses.
In Ghana, we have wrongly aligned everything to politics and we are unable to separate the daily political propaganda and hogwash from serious national issues or problems…”
This brings me to my question; why is Alfred Oko Vanderpuije still the Mayor of a city that floods each year under his leadership?
The answer is simple, no one will fire him despite the gross incompetence and the masses are unable to mount enough pressure on him to resign—because, we cannot separate national crisis such as floods even when we are dying from politics.
Hearts of Oak came up short in their improbable mission to overturn a 4-0 first leg deficit against Esperance; managing only a 1-1 draw that saw them knocked out of the Confederations cup.
Isaac Mensah gave Hearts an early lead, nodding home in the 4th minute, but that was as good as it got all game. Profligacy kept the score at 1-0, until Esperance equalised mere minutes from time.
