New Guy-Sarkodie Feat. Ace Hood

Sarkodie’s new song with Ace Hood-‘New Guy’ may go down history as the most anticipated Ghanaian song—until, we get something else with enough controversy to beat down this record.

Finally, the song dropped this morning and it was not just GhanaCelebrities.Com’s music journalist who felt the song did not live to the hype—many fans took to social media to say; it was not that good.

GhanaCelebrities.Com’s music journalist wrote;

“Titled ‘New Guy‘, the track is not by anyway extraordinary from the many Hip hop songs we’ve been listening to. To be honest, it does not catch up with the degree of hype it received, knowing what Sarkodie is capable of doing.

For some reason, Sarkodie mentioned T.B Joshua and his Synagogue in there—as though that is his spiritual father. Sarkodie’s flow was ordinary and we think the beat did not probably help him as Ace Hood out-shined him if you listen to the two…

The second come for Sarkodie was more of throwing praises to Ace-Hood as he talked about how much his people loved him and how he has signed his name in Kumasi.

Poorly, Ace Hood could not even get the pronunciation of Sarkodie’s name right; he went for the foreign ‘Sarkodi’.”

The fans on social media threw out their comments too with comedian/musician-APlus’ comment which said Sarkodie did not pull his weight drawing a lot of comments. Others said, it was great…

So GhanaCelebrities.Com decided to go beyond the fans’ reactions to find out what the real music experts-Reggie Rockstone (0riginator of Hiplife with extensive Hip Hop background) and outstanding producer-Hammer of the Last Two had to say about the song….

Flip to the next page to read exactly what these two had to say about the song and tell us if you agree with them or not…

  1. Am I the only one that thinks this was certified hot turd? I guess no one wants to tell the emperor he’s naked. This wasn’t hip hop. This was rubbish. Hey Sarkodie, if you want to be taken seriously, have a listen to Tupac/Eminem/Dre/Snoop,public enemy/ Mos Def, Jadakiss and Run DMC. Or you can watch the 12 year old boy from Brooklyn called Astro. Google him. This sounds fake and made up. The angst(not to be confused with anxiety) which is required to support the whole track like that is not there making the whole thing sound fake. I will give you an example. Listen to Eminem, even when he’s joking there is that angst which makes him believable. Tupac had it in abundance and used it well. 50 cent’s had it on his first album before he went soft and started singing about candy sticks. Lil Kim’s earlier work has lots of the angst in it too. Check out this from Eminem “Not afraid”, “Lose Yourself” or Tupac’s “Hail Mary” “When We Ride On Our Enemies” or “dear mama”,”trading war stories”, “when I get free”. Have listen and see how the realists do it.
    PS: Living in Ghana you will have a lot of material much like Pac in the ghettoes. Injustice, crime, dumsor, floods, filth, bad politicians and the list goes on.
