So this young lady- Francisca Oteng Mensah wins an election (primaries) and instead of Ghanaians congratulating her, haters (mostly oluus) are going about insinuating she won because her father is rich!! Really? Can anyone point out from amongst all these old politicians even one of them who is not rich and who does not pay to win power?
She sort for funding to finance her campaign – I don’t care whether her sponsor was her father, grandfather, uncle or future boyfriend (if she doesn’t have one already.. just kidding) at least we know the source of wealth of her sponsor.
How about presidential candidates the world round who take monies from all the dubious sources there are only to end up paying back by awarding all these shady contracts or scheming and paying strange – sometimes non-existing debts to their debtors?
Continue saying she is inexperienced – perfect! After all these old men in parliament were never elected for a first time, they just started with a third and fourth times and so on. Has any of them gone to school to study to become a parliamentarian?
Personally, I blame the youth:
- When they need people to go into the hinterlands- to hit the grounds running they come to us.
- We have all the numbers to easily choose one of our own but we don’t.
- We’ve made them convince us that they are the wisest men/women in the world – that is why they want to remain in parliament till death do them part, see where they have brought us with all ‘the experience’!!
If the mess Ghana is in today is all those so called experienced men/women can do for us then I strongly feel it’s time we tried the inexperience – 22year olds for starters, 20, 19 and 18 years going forward.
After all, all the junior soccer teams of Ghana have won us world cups except #THE EXPERIENCED ONES.
Congratulations Miss Francisca Oteng-Mensah, you are already in the history books and may all your hatters go burn the sea or better yet drink the odo – when it rises.
