Very, very strange things have happened on the pitch in the heat of a game, but poking someone in the butt is taking things to a whole new level.

Chilean defender Gonzalo Jara has been banned for the rest of the Copa America tournament after he poked a finger into Uruguayan forward Edinson Cavani’s butt.

Uruguay were taking on Chile in the quarter final of South America’s continental tourney when things got heated up towards the end of the game with Chile leading.

Jara and Cavani got into a scuffle, which somehow bizarrely led to the Chilean sticking his hand up Cavani butt. The forward turned angrily and lashed out at Jara, who fell down theatrically despite there being very little contact.

He succeeded in getting Cavani sent off, but after assessing the game officials have banned him from the rest of the tournament.

Often it is Uruguay’s Suarez doing the crazy antics, but this guy just jumped to the top of the bizarre football incidents list.
